Tone turned down is definitely better for both of them.
ОтветитьWhat is the song from the beggining? the one in the clean sound
ОтветитьHa ha ha i m so happy cause I have Ds2
ОтветитьOf course, DS-1 wins in this comparison. DS-1 , atmosphere and creates specific images that are close ( to those who are in the topic ) since the early 80s. This pedal is what it is and does not seek to please anyone . DS-1 requires good sound extraction, the sound is open, textured and fuzzed. Playing it , you will not be able to hide behind excessive cozy compression . And the DS-2? DS2 is a pure compromise , the beginning of devaluation of IDEAS and oriented already ... to very wide masses , despite the fact that it ( DS2 ) was used by stars .
Ответитьheres a trick for when using a ds-1; if you want a fuzzy tone crank up your distortion all the way up, then take down your tone to 9 o'clock or 9 and a half, and then adjust your volume according to what you want, this will give you a lot of sustain a because of how much you roll off your tone and how much gain you have; PLUS, this pedal tends to give you a lot of hum, so if you turn your gain all the way up you will get a lot of hum but the tone rolled down will tame everything down
(DISCLAIMER: this setting is the one that i use for my affinity strat with single coils so if youre using a guitar with humbuckers you may need to take down the gain and bring up your tone a little bit :), you just need to tweak it until you find the sweetspot)
That's the way it must be... no talking, just showing it in a practical way, thank you.
Ответить👎TOO MUCH SCREWING AROUND WITH THE DAMN KNOBS......DISTORTION ON FULL, LEVEL UNITY & TONE TO MATCH UP .....THEN COMPARE THE 2 & THE DC2.....SWITCHING DISTORTION MODES.......MR. DUMB DUMBS👎
ОтветитьIf you only know that one rhythm you play it well.
ОтветитьUp the irons!
ОтветитьHad the DS2, lent it to a friend and never got it back. This video makes me miss it :(
Ответитьthis is great. question... is this a p90 or humbucker sound on your guitar?
ОтветитьDS2 has autentic tonal, made some kind of "slash-tone" for solo's (2nd mode)
ОтветитьNice vid and still relevant 5 years later. DS-2 > DS-1.
ОтветитьThe DS2 is the best bang for the buck. I have one and I use it for recordings with both single coil and humbucker guitars. : )
ОтветитьThis is a stupid thing but I thought that your clean sound was so beautiful that why would anyone want to distort it xd
ОтветитьYou need to have both 🤪 Great Review! I‘m going to use mine in a Stereo setup. Show you, when it‘s finished! 🤟
Ответитьmy ears got tired hearing one riff only the whole video
ОтветитьIn utero wins for me
ОтветитьDS-1 one is crispier like fresh cut salad
DS-2 is muddier like chocolate milkshake
DS-1 , in my opinion, is significantly more musical . Raw real Rock-n Roll . Actually DS-1 together with for example SD-1, will sound much more interesting . Thicker and more musical than the DS-2 . the DS-2 is a compromise.
ОтветитьWould a Pre-amp petal clean up Ds1 an push a little bit hard?
ОтветитьOutput.. input.. turbo distortion da -2
ОтветитьDistortion always sounds the same to me
ОтветитьThey both sound like crap. The best distortion u can get is through the amp. All pedals suck
ОтветитьDS-2 because John Frusciante.
ОтветитьI’m i the only annoyed with these nuances of “knob dialing” in many of these type of videos? 😂
ОтветитьTrash pedals
ОтветитьCan't find my turbo anywhere. FML
ОтветитьGreat video! I have both and both are great for different jobs. If you want your distortion coming from a pedal into a clean amp, I would go with the DS-2, plus you can switch between the two modes by connecting a latching footswitch into the 'remote' jack socket. Mode 1 is darker, perfect for rhythm, while mode 2 has more mids and an open sound that works great for leads.
If you want to boost an overdriven amp, the DS1 is one of the best pedals out there!. Turn the distortion all the way down (still distorts nicely) and push the distorted amp's input with the level while adjusting the clarity/thickness you want with the tone control. It's my favourite booster pedal out there.
The DS1 featured a couple of crazy design decisions, namely a transistor boost section before the opamp that had way too much gain which meant that certain guitar signals would get this really squashed, shrill tone even at minimum gain. Then there was a tone stack which allowed you to balance between an unuseably dull sound and an unuseably shrill sound. With the DS2 it seems like Boss adjusted the values of those parts of the circuit to make a more useable, better sounding distortion. It turned out that a lot of musicians really liked the sound that arose from the "bad design" of the original DS1 and it continued to outsell the "better sounding" DS2. Setting 1 is just a modded DS1. You should be able to mod either pedal to sound like the other with a few cap and resistor subsitutions.
ОтветитьLove how you played 2 minutes to midnight with this comparison, I've been trying to find a pedal for good maiden tones, I think I found it
Ответитьi wish i czn trade my ds-1 to fhe more poweful and heavy ds-2 :(
ОтветитьWhy does this DS-1 sound a million times better than my DS-1? Just a better amp, or has the pedal changed over time or something?
ОтветитьThe DS-2 is my favorite distortion pedal. In Turbo mode it's got those nice mids. I run a DS-2 with a CE-2 and NS2 into a Laney GH50L.
ОтветитьDS - 2 for me.
ОтветитьDoes the DS-2 remind anyone else of a cross between a DS-1 and a SP-1 Spectrum? I hear a cocked wah mixed with distortion.
ОтветитьDS-1 for the win. DS-2 is good if you need more gain but it sounds like it only does one sound well.
ОтветитьNice riff bro! It grows on you after the 90th time!
ОтветитьThe ds1 sounds atrocious
ОтветитьJust buy an ds-1 and sd-1 both of them are $50, you’ll get better results than te ds-2 which also costs a hundred dollar😉
ОтветитьDS-2 was my first distortion pedal. I boght it in the 90's and I used it for years. Than I sold it to buy the DS-1, crazy moment at the guitar shop (I own a mxr, and a metal zone too, but in the end I always prefered the ds-2) I found it second hand and I wanted the original one. Nothing... after less than one year I bought the DS-2 again. The DS-2 sounds exactly as the DS-1 with the turbo option that I like a lot.
ОтветитьDS-1 with overdrive pedal is my preference.
ОтветитьI don't get it. Why not just go to a Goodwill nearby and get one of those 1959 Marshall Super Lead Plexie full stacks. And forget the pedal? ( - ;
ОтветитьIf both are turned on RIP Ears
ОтветитьI just bought Boss DS-2 and I'm pretty satisfied with it..it's a killer pedal
ОтветитьYoure were playing 2 minuts, but with the sound of accept-flash rockin man.
ОтветитьLike I said before, been using the ds-1 my whole career since it came out. Amazing pedal. Run an overdrive pedal after your ds-1 and you got amazing powerful tone, better than the ds-2 and most distortion pedals out there. I use a joyo vintage tube overdrive, so much better than the overrated and overpriced tubescreamer..
Ответитьi would go to distortion ds-1 than turbo distortion ds-2
