It took me a long time to learn my happiness was my own responsibility. But I’ve also learned that women would, at first, tell you they respected that quality. But, after the relationship was established, they would begin to resent my focus on making my own happiness. Thankfully, over the years I also learned to ignore the criticism. Another difficult life lesson to learn.

Happiness is for women and children, I don't find I'm that concerned with being happy, but when I stop chasing happiness and just do what I'm compelled to do, pursue my interests, put time into creating a life with my family, happiness seems to arise organically anyway.

I don't view either of our happiness to be that important. I am a male and the eldest in my family. Happiness has never been the point. It has always been sacrifice. Sacrifice actually does bring me a lot of positive feeling, but it's not the point. I am finite and this world is silly. If I can ease the burdens of others, why wouldn't I? I've had a blessed life; loving family, better health than I deserve, mild insanity to keep things interesting, intelligence, and even a few loves. Why not help those less fortunate?
Ideally my wife/gf would have a similar mindset, but its not necessary. I expect to do more for her than she does for me, but I am far from a pushover. If she steps out of line she's on the curb like a street walker.

Whats crazy is that im a gay man, but as ive gotten older ive gotten so much more confident. I had a serious glowup in looks and the women i come into contact with treat me so much different than before. I went from needy, clingy, and weak, to assertive, dashing, mysterious, and confident and i dont need anybody else for my happiness. The hottest girl at my work who has a boyfriend cannot keep her hands off of me, shes an hr manager and i put her in check once and it absolutely threw her for such a loop. I think this time you are wrong. The woman would like to get to a date you want but she wants? You invite her to a Video Game Session or the soccer game to the drunken people, because you are happy? I don't think so.
The examples you made (good good, good books, Entertainment without ads,... they are right. But this is not about your happiness. For the woman it is the question of "is he willing to provide this services for me and our future children. That you value this things (for example good fresh food) and you are able and willing to provide them - that is attractive. If it is "me, me, me, I have to be Happy!" that is not attractive because there are chances that you wouldn't provide and support. Another thing is - are you happy in the beginning or are you already miserable when the relationship begins. A high value woman is not interested in building you up and figure out in the relationship if you can provide and support for children and herself in the relationship because you are probably too miserable even when it starts. So a high value woman wants you to be Happy when the relationship starts so you have reserves when the relationship gets tough (children, argues,...) and you are not breaking down because you are already operating in the edge. So the high value woman is in the first place mit interested in your personal happiness but that your distance to being miserable ist big enough that you don't snap in rougher times.
