To answer your question regarding fingering on Level #4, RH Reach Song, I would use finger #4 for the F major arpeggio because finger #4 is already in position from the previous A minor hand position. Also, since the hand is at a stretch, there is already tension in the hand, and because the hand is generally in the exact same position as the previous chord as only one note changes, and the 1 and 5 fingers are locked in position, I find that it causes quite a bit more tension when I switch from finger #4 to #3.

This us great, as long as the students have progressed to the point in theory to recognize enough music theory to know and understand chord inversions.

A student who doesn't know chord inversions will be helplessly lost and confused, even though these are great exercises.

Well, I started today with Level I after a long, long time away from the piano, and it was much harder for me than I anticipated. I’d forgotten how hard it is to play notes together and how hard it is to play notes at the same level. So this turned out to be an excellent place for me to start from scratch. Thanks, Jazer!

Thanks for your tutorials but it is very difficult to see your fingers and recognize the notes you pressed. Use an app to show pressed notes and/or sheets for audiences to read.

Hi Jazer. Thanks for the video lesson. I've being learning a lot from you and I do appreciate you. I really love the first example you gave about arpeggios in classical music. Is there a way for you to make one video on classical music arpeggios or a lesson on that first exam?

I want to practice this in all 12 keys. If you were going to transpose this whole drill up 1/2 step to Db, in the left hand reach, would you use the same fingering (5321) or would you use 2142 so that your thumb is on the white key F? With major scales, you change the finger you start on so that the thumb always falls on a white key. If you keep the same fingering in a Db arpeggio as the fingering you showed for C, the third finger is on the white key while the low Db is played with the 5th finger and the high Db played with the thumb. It seems to me that there is an advantage to 2142 in that once you go to more than one octave you are already used to playing the white F with the thumb and the black keys with 2 and 4, which keeps your hand shape similar to what you'd use for a major scale, and the same fingering whether you do 1 octave or 4. The disadvantage of playing it using 2142 is that even if you are only doing a single octave where no hand change position would really be necessary, you are not using the same fingering in all 12 keys, so that you have to learn a new fingering and have to do a thumb tuck that would not be needed if you kept the fingering from C. Or would you practice it in Db with both of those fingerings? I'm wondering if I should always use the 2142 even for one octave arpeggios so that my fingering is consistent with what it would probably be if I were playing 4 octaves. I'm assuming that if you do a 4 octave arpeggio, left hand, you don't want to cross over from thumb on black key Db to 3 on F? Or would you just play thumb on Db and then finger 3 on F anyway, even with multiple octaves?
