You use the same brush to paint everything. Putting tariffs on materials that you don't have enough of is not a good thing. Canada should start diversifing. Let US make their own cars and keep their jobs and Canada do the same. Start trading with China and others so that we are not dependent on one partner. Start by ditching the overpriced Teslas and get the BYD cars is one example. There are many examples that the governement should and could have done that benefits Canadians. The people always suffers and this is no different. People eyes need to be open to the fact that these are elites don't really care and we are just pawns in game that leads to a one world governance system.

No one is at War with China as we buy there stuff. If China was a true enemy we would not be supporting the enemy and making them stronger by buying there stuff. People need to realize that there are greater forces at work and we are all being played. Tariffs are no different.

Canada imposed tariffs on China to support USA in their EV tariffs.

F the US. I say we remove the tariffs on Chinese EVs as a big FU for lying.

Nah, America hasn’t been treated unfairly. I don’t know how Trump could think that just because he is the president of a country that houses the founders of certain companies that he has a monopoly on said companies. Trump shouldn’t be meddling in other peoples businesses like that, he doesn’t own or run those businesses if he did they’d have been tanked and bankrupted years ago.

The US negotiated the trade deal which outlined how each country dealt with trade. Now, they’re saying it’s not good we’re getting taken advantage of by them and are breaking the deal at all levels and blaming their trade partners. None of this is in good faith and simply damages their credibility as a trading partners. All countries are looking to distance themselves from them on account of not being able to trust they will do what they say they’re going to do.

Trump tariffs are an opportunity. Canada does not have to even negotiate with the U.S. Canada can simply by pass the United States. The solution is for Canada to buy the steel, aluminum, potash, canola, lumber, or whatever else the U.S. does not take and then sell those products on forward to the global market. It is a buffer that keeps companies producing and workers employed. Canada replaces the lost U.S. buyers. It is foolish to hitch Canada’s economic wagon to declining U.S. Empire. The global majority, 60%, of global population is divesting away from the United States. The United States share of global trade has declined to 15% and falling. With tariff and isolationism American workers are losing their jobs. Remove the 100% tariff on Chinese cars. U.S. is attacking China because China is a success surpassing the United States with 1/3 of global trade. China rightfully counter tariffed Canadian canola. The United States cannot compete against China so like a losing runner in a foot race is trying to trip China up with sanctions, embargoes, tariffs, propaganda, and cyber warfare. Google “United States Interventionism” to get a true Wikipedia picture of the United States.

Automakers make billions of dollars profit in Canada and the US...both countries make millions and millions of tax dollars from the workers who build the car and the employees that supply parts...this is one industry that doesnt need tariffs between Canada and the US...Mexico because of their lower wages,YES ok tariffs are fine...but to destroy the lives of American and Canadian middle class working families is ludicrous and it needs to be left the way it is as everyone does fairly well including the CRA and the IRS.

The United States of America is bankrupt. And this is their desperate way of attempting to generating money to pay down their dept and deficits. Leveraging tariffs first before sitting down at the negotiating table in order to come to terms on trade regulations with the different countries it is holding an axe over their heads with. Talk about negotiating in good faith with tariffs disguised as sanctions against countries like Canada in order to collapse their economy to make it easier to annexe them and make them the 51st state. We all know the reason they want Canada...and that is to use its natural resources to pull themselves out of the deep black hole they are in as far as the United States of America finances are concerned.
Lets not fool ourselves thinking these are tariffs...in fact these are a form of sanctions in order to make countries like Canada submit to the will of the United States of America.

Everything is framed with a narrative that is inherently hostile, all the time! Corps decide to purchase products internationally so that they can benefit from a price reduction or a product that is not available locally. The way the US government makes it sound is that they have been forced to import products by other countries. No one forced the US companies to import more goods than they export. If the US is unhappy with the status quo, why not just discourage US companies from such imports, instead of villainizing other countries who sell. Trump himself signed the very trade agreement he now claims to be unfair. It seems blaming others and playing victim is his modus operandi. All is sows is division and discord. His negotiation style is a coercive one.

I'm so sick of the US saying they are getting ripped off by Canada. There are 40 million Canadians and 340 million Americans. In 2024 Canada imported 441B and the US 482B. If you look at the numbers per capita in 2024, Canada purchased $11,025 per capita and the US purchased $1,120 per capita. How do they expect a nation of 40 million to buy the same amount as a nation of 340 million??? I think Canada buys a substantial amount considering their population.
