I just bought a 15 Altima and its my first car with this kind of gas tank door release. I never realized this until I went to buy gas (at costco of all places) and spent a bunch of time trying to figure this out. The second time I knew what to do, but then I accidentally opened the hood when trying to open the gas door. Spent even more time trying to figure out how to close the hood as it was also different from other cars I’ve owned 😭😭😭

We tried for about 20 minutes, had 8 miles left.Just bought this 2011 Nissan maxima last week, long story short. Turn off the vehicle was the answer.
