ОтветитьUnrecord is an actor-based movie scene shot with real people, like on Indi Games has movie clips of a lot of video games of today like Dead by Daylight. If you will notice the first person that was shot has his face blurred out, meaning that is an actual person and not a Meta Character.

ОтветитьThe light can't be fully baked because the player pawn cast a shadow. So at least some light source is either dynamic or stationary. My guess is that it is the HDRI or Skylight that is casting Ray traced shadows, or shadows through Lumen.
ОтветитьWhat were the high quality motion blur values that you managed to achieve for gameplay? Can you please provide the actual values used on the motion blur section of the post process volume?
ОтветитьYou can enable hardware raytracing for Lumen in the rendering settings, it makes a huge difference.

Anyone can use the available tools and asset store right now to dump all this super high res textures, dense geometry, and tick a few lighting boxes to get a beautiful ray traced scene quick. Its a vertical slice, controlled. Gamers are so forgetful. How many games have we seen claim 'In game footage', then at launch it looks severely downgraded and runs like crap? Shortcuts like what I said above, scripted AI engagements, specific render distance. Lots of things you can do in a vertical slice to make it look and run well, but not represent what it actually will be like when everything is complete.
With that said, I like where they are going with this but I am very doubtful it will be the same experience we see here when its out, and if it will be performant and optimized or not. Games out right now like Fortnite with lumen and RT barely are used by anyone who doesn't have a 4090, and even then are turned down.

ОтветитьBeen developing games in unreal for a few years now, And honestly great job. It's not identical obviously but definitely a good start to making it like the game. I'd love to see what you could do with a few months to a years time working on a project. If you ever need advice or help optimizing anything, hmu, I'm more than happy to share what I know.

ОтветитьIt's obvious the real gameplay won't be like that. They spent a huge amount of time on those scenes because it's for the trailer of the game. So they really made the scenes far more realistic with the best lighting and everything, and ran it in real time probably on a super high tier computer that could handle the scene in real time.
The real game in real gameplay won't be that realistic, but you already showed that with the screenshots that they later showed.
There are many other videos of people making super realistic stuff that can run in real time on Unreal 5, so it's not that big of a shock, it will be shocking once we can truly get real gameplay on release to that quality however, and not some trickery done in real time on the developer's side for a trailer than also ran on a super powerful computer.

ОтветитьLightning and over exposure helps to sell the realism. Over exposure gets rid of a ton of details as you get rid of subtle contrasts. That way you don't really need that highly detailed models and textures (unless you walk up close to that object, then texture detail could be deal breaker). Another thing, considering the context of it feeling like a video recording, could be to create an effect that mimics image compression, such that you get rid of additional details and make it look like actual video footage. Of course this could also hurt gameplay (and cause motion sickness due to excessive motion blur).
Context is a huge reason why it looks so realistic; make it look like a video recording rather than what you see through your eyes.
Your version clearly looks like shit compared to Unrecord. "MAKE UNRECORD BY YOURSELF!" sounds more like you almost devaluing the work that was put on this by the author.
