The Sony UI is just too ugly. It looks like going back 7 years. The Samsung is just cleaner, brighter and more interesting on the eye. I’m an iPhone user so I’m not bias here it’s just my opinion.

Aside from the excellent performance, I must say that the 21:9 aspect ratio of the Xperia 1 II is a good shape if you want to have the most enormous screen size while making sure the phone is still manageable in your hand or hands. The width of the phone is 72mm which is wide enough. The width of its screen is also wide enough — it's the exact same width of the 16:9 5.2" displays of the 6-year-old Xperia Z3, and the 4-year-old Xperia XZ — should be very nice to hold in one hand. Personally I think it should be totally fine for me to use this device phone with one hand, and for better ergonomics due to the very tall form factor, two hands at other times.

Its display is just slightly narrower than the S20 Ultra's. Still large enough.

And there's no curved screen, notches or pinhole nonsense to ruin the symmetry, and your viewing experiencing.

Wait, the S20 Ultra's 6.9" display has a 20:9 aspect ratio?? I would say that is 20:9 should be the best aspect ratio for a smartphone display but unfortunately the S20 Ultra's width exceeds the sweet spot of 72mm, and is 76mm in width. It is now strictly a two- handed phone.

Another thing is that the Xperia 1 II weighs only 181g compared the S20 Ultra 5G which is… 222g, even heavier than the Note9 and the iPhone XS Max!

Sony is always killing it with the best flagship phones, but they stay sucking it when it comes to marketing,

I remember back in the day my Xperia Z Ultra LTE literally got twice the performance score of the flagship Galaxy, yet no one even realized Sony made phones, I literally had both phones but returned the Galaxy as it's screen didn't seem to have the full resolution it was claiming (because Samsung lied) where's the Sony did & it was the most colour accurate & largest display ever if not the brightest one lol.

Interesting review but realy bad giving points on which app opens faster!! Thats not a thing that interesting me when i buy a phone. I love sony from all smartphones they are the best on the market for now. Just things happened because samsung and apple wanted to kill sony but they forget that the screens and cameras are all devoleped and done by sone.
So in the market sony is the best but these days you make review on ridiculous thing that for me are not interested and dont show me which phone is better.
Refresh rate, phone booting up app closing and opening thats thing that i dont mind if it opens in 1 second or milisecond.
Next time make a review with important things batery life, calls, videoes, games streaming things like that.

Did you know that in other parts of the world, Samsung uses Exynos on their 20 line and uses Snapdragon on the phones they are selling in US? Jerry Rig Everything tested both phones and found out that those that use the snapdragon were 20% faster than those that use the homegrown exynos and they are priced the same, sometimes the exynos are even more expensive in europe than the faster snapdragon in the US.

What a ripoff.

I was looking for a top of the line 5G phone to replace my Note 9 but it has to have a 3.5mm jack because I have a very nice expensive headset and I prefer high quality audio.
