Excel LAMBDA - HOW & WHEN you Should use it

Correct me if I'm wrong, but It seems like lambda is excel's version of being able to create or layer functions and calling said functions.

Leila, thanks to you I am using lambda functions every day. However, I am beginning to think that all my lambda functions are causing the spreadsheet to be less efficient (it's a big spreadsheet with many tabs). Is there any evidence to show that repeated lambdas may take more computer power than a simple repeated formula?

Another way to do running total is scan{0,array,lambda{rows,cold{rows+cold}}. But why it works, I do not understand

LAMBDA is going to be my new best friend. All of my long complex formulas will be simplified and with naming I'll be able to understand all that I have done much better. Excel is getting better and better!

Experimenting using LAMBDA. It's super powerful. The environment you 'program' in lacks a lot of features of VBA or other languages. Almost a throw back to compilers or interpreted languages from years ago. Which is okay for me since I cut my programming teeth in assembly, basic, c, pascal, cobol but I think folks who are used to the rich development environments will get a bit frustrated with the the ability to troubleshoot.

I know you work largely in Excel but as you go along I wonder if this function (and other functions you demonstrate) are also available in other programs. It would be helpful to know if they are available in competing products even though you would not necessarily detail how to use them.

ORRRR You could use the match function with index, probably would work faster on very large sets of data. Not all exccel sheets support Lambda functions, normally I charge for this kind of information but if there's some lost soul that unfortunately came across this video should know this is not an applicable method for most businesses

Is there a way to apply optional headers to a custom array function in a similar way to the STOCKHISTORY function? I have been playing around with LAMBDA for about a week now and managed to build a bond amortization schedule by making a series of LAMBDA functions for each component (Period, Start balance, cash payment, interest expense, end balance, each of which is a dynamic array function utilizing the sequence function to spill vertically based on Years*compounding periods), then "merging" them by nesting a SEQUENCE(1,5) within a SWITCH function to replace 1-5 with each of "sub-functions". It works, but it is just the unformatted numbers. (I would also like to format the numbers without using the text function as I'd like to maintain the ability to preform calculations)

I attempted to do a SEQUENCE(2,5) replacing 1-5 with the headers and 6-10 with the sub-functions but that didn't work.

i'm trying use sumifs in of lambda. also trying to use some column names which i have predefined, i'm getting an error, any ideas why?

Do you know if there is a possibility to place the Lambda function in an AddIn or in the personal xlsb Workbook? In the Namemanager I only can select the active workbook. It is also logical, because to define names in another workbook…..
But perhaps there is another war, f.e. a class Modul in vba?! Thanks in advance!

Hi Leila, I am having a BIG issues to Sync the names from the Editor to the name manager, it seems that issue comes from regional configuration, I am in Spain an formulas uses ";" instead of "," and viceversa... any hint?
