My husband, Johnny, Grunge was best friends with them.
Nancy and Chris didn’t show up at my husband‘s funeral and I was upset with them even a year and a half later. I saw them at the gym. Nancy didn’t say anything to me she was on the treadmill. I was looking for Chris and he was in the tanning bed and he had just gotten in there and I was gonna wait for him but I didn’t have time to wait for the 30 minutes. The incident happened two weeks later. I wish I would’ve waited for 30 minutes.

I’ve always thought something was off about the whole situation and that it might’ve been actually been a hit job…

The whole Benoit situation is interesting in the sense that people have such a hard time trying to fathom both the good AND the bad in one person at the same time. It's almost like a maturity test: kids only see the world in black and white, and as we grow up we start to see shades of gray, multiple black/white situations, complex nuanced situations, and other things that aren't so simple.

The Benoit situation is especially tough, even for mature adults: very rarely is a person asked to put "good person" and "evil horrible murderer" in the same person at the same time

Personally, my way of coping is the "Superman" approach. Separate the person he was from the person he became by "Pre-Crisis" and "Post-Crisis" labels with the biggest Crisis (among many) being Eddie Guerrero's death.

Of course many people refuse to recognize one side at all. "He's a murderer" while completely dissociating everything else from reality, while at the same time, shaming people that do see the other side.

VICE's approach seems to acknowledge and recognize this by putting "Pre-Crisis" Benoit in Part 1 and "Post-Crisis" Benoit in Part 2.

I remember the night this broke out. it was already a somber chapter of my life. My Grandfather just died, i was being held back at school, the economy was already shaky at the time. I was vacationing at upstate new york/ontario at the time, but when i turned to monday night raw in my hotel room, i saw vince mcmahon deliver the bad news.

At that point i knew that nothing was the same anymore.

You know, the people that believe he did this are the people that like things simple, rapped up real nice and easy to understand. Explain why there were ten empty bottles of beer and a bottle on wine near his body but no alcohol in his system, according to the autopsy. Why would a professional wrestler 240lbs need to restrain a 120 woman, bounding her wrist and ankles and wrap her up in a rug!? This man could kill you in one move!! Why did Chavo say in an interview while in the phone with him, there was a knock on the door, he said to hang on, and he heard a fight in the background?

Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were my favorite wrestlers growing up.

It was hard watching wrestling after Eddie's death, but Benoit was still around at the time, so I was still able to somewhat enjoy what I had loved.

When news broke about their deaths, I was in denial. When the details came out, I was beyond devastated. How could a man like Benoit do what he had done? He was a family man. The type of wrestler people aspired to be one day. Like so many others, I couldn't comprehend anything.

Watching WWE the Tuesday after everything was so eerie. I remember watching Umaga in a match and the crowd had zero life. Everybody was in shock and had little to no emotion. While the show had to go on, I couldn't believe they even aired shows on Tuesday/Friday. The fans were there, but they were all lifeless.

As much as I tried getting back into wrestling, I just can't enjoy it anymore and I doubt I'll ever truly enjoy it again

RIP Daniel. If Hell is real, I hope Chris Benoit is in the most deep, hottest, and darkest pit. There was no excuse for what he did. NONE! Someone who just "snaps" doesn't plan the murder like he did. He googled ways to do it days beforehand. The coward also put cushion on his noose in case it failed, so he had no scar. When the doctor inspected Chris's brain it was discovered he had Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) from repeated concussions from his career and his brain was that damaged and atrophied it looked like that of a 90 yeah old with severe dementia. CTE can result in extreme changes in behaviour, impulse control issues, mood swings, depression and suicidal behaviour, sudden bouts of anger, confusion, impared judgement, memory loss, hallucinations, sometimes they dont know whats real or who they are anymore. Normally i dont defend murderers but chris had no control over himself and was that out of it he didnt know what was going on. had he survived no doubt he would have been deemed not guiltily by reason of mental disease or defect because of the state his brain was in.

Rip Chris, Daniel and Nancy. There's still more to this story that's being covered up. There's several things that just don't add up. Chris Benoit didn't do this, he may have taken his own life but someone else took Nancy and Daniel's lives.

This incident just proves that some men can't handle reality, that their spouse is leaving them and taking their child with them.

"I love you" the way chavo describes chris saying that, what i got was chris had just came back to whatever right state of mind that he had left at this point & realized what he did to his own family and that there was no coming back from that, and he wanted chavo to understand that no matter what happens after that phone call he will always love chavo like a brother just as he did eddie. For me the ruthless agression era ended when chris benoit murdered his family and himself.
