RIP Arena Shooters. You will not be forgotten <3
ОтветитьBruh if you're going to do a history lesson, make sure it's factually correct 🤡
Ответитьlogged into quake arena last night in AUS and no one was on , waited a bit and jummed off
ОтветитьUnreal 2004 was brilliant bt never mentioned
ОтветитьWhat about tf2? That’s a pure multiplayer arena shooter and that gets loads of new players after 16 years. It’s player count peaked 16 years after it released.
ОтветитьMan doesn’t even know what an arena shooter is
ОтветитьTheres A LOT of missunderstand about Arena games story in this video, from releases date, doom clones, influences, and actually what is really an arena shooter; even technical things. Dont get me wrong, love your videos but could not hold my comm cuz I really love and still playing arena fps.
Just watch catb0mb video about this video, he has a lot of points that are more informative about all what I've see here.
Dude, your pop filter is not doing shit at that distance from the mic capsule.
Ответитьhow can you not talk about tf2 in a video like this
ОтветитьQuake Doom Unreal
The holly trinity
An arena shooter and some metal 🤌chefs kiss
ОтветитьBruh, aren't Doom, Halo, Shadow Warrior, Boltgun, and Wolfenstein some of the most popular and well praised fps titles currently? Those are all arena shooters. Obviously they aren't as successful as twitch shooters like COD and Battlefield, but they're definitely still around and see success. I think arguing that the genre is dead is super ignorant, I think it's fair to say they aren't the biggest genre but I don't think they are, in your own words "RIP arena shooters, you will not be forgotten".
ОтветитьI just hate that epic killed unreal tournament because of Fortnite
ОтветитьStop fragging my boy CBTTest006
ОтветитьWarsow anyone?
ОтветитьI believe he cannot play Quake lol lol.
ОтветитьAh a time when games were made for just MEN
ОтветитьYou talk about the entire FPS history, mentioning games that more often than not have nothing to do with arena shooters, you mix up the timeline of releases and what could have influenced what. You talk about Unreal as if it was multiplayer-focused, when that game is remembered because of it's single player campaign. You're making stuff up and fumbling facts all around. You seem to have done an incredibly shallow research, read out the first draft of your script and called it a day.
You can and you should do better than this :)
So fun to hear Starsiwge Tribes referenced as I spent a decade playing that franchise, most of it in the original game on Renegades mod for [[DD]] clan. Played as an HOF for most of it. Such good memories and so many great matches!
Ответитьhow can you fail to mention the number one reason people stopped playing theses types of games, HACKERS!
ОтветитьGears of war if anyone played it that’s the closest thing to a true area shooter
Ответитьngl im on the younger side of age but i love quake, doom and also duke nukem
ОтветитьAnd then doom eternal happened
ОтветитьMate, you should look a bit further in to Tribes - it was literally groundbreaking - not only was it the first with huge teams, classes and loadouts (light, medium and heavy), it also integrated drivable vehicles and literally turned a bug in to a feature that redefined the game.
Players discovered that jamming the jump input over and over broke the physics engine and removed friction from movement. Thus allowing people to slide down gradients at silly speeds, which carried over when people used their jetpack. People then developed scripts to enable this sliding. The devs noticed this, opted not to patch it out of the game, and instead 'skiing' was born and became canon to the game and lore.
So the reasons we're playing slow ass shooters these days was those darn controller players all along. ✊
ОтветитьQuake Live was almost a renaissance back in the 2000s, but alas Bethesda kind of stepped on it and then kicked it out the door to fend for itself. Before that I was playing UT99 and Q3A offline because my internet sucked butt back in the day.
ОтветитьIsn't Overwatch an example of arena shooters that has adapted and done well-like really well? And the very least shows there is still desire for these games.
ОтветитьWe truly need
- Why is DUKE NUKEM FOREVER, SOBAD?!?!?!
Is it okay to be a 40 year old man clinging to his 20s?
Ответитьrepublic commando was an awesome game. i honestly forgot about it. i had so much fun with that game as a kid
ОтветитьHellslinger seems fun you should check it out
ОтветитьCannot believe I just heard someone trash Doom 2016 multiplayer, me and my friends gave that game so much love for a couple years after release
ОтветитьHonestly this General MIDI is awful, hard to convince anyone it is good, but in the past midi was very good using different sound cards to improve sounds, and I'm telling you, it doesn't compare with the sound of the video 😅
ОтветитьShoother
ОтветитьI played arina shoother
ОтветитьUnreal Tournament 2004 was the last good arena shooter
ОтветитьNo mention of Serious Sam?
ОтветитьSerious Sam best fps of all time
Ответить>doom launched its online component
what. Do you mean dwango?
I get where you’re coming from in this video but to say a genre of game is dead because it’s not mainstream doesn’t mean so. I get where you’re coming from but it just feels disingenuous. Would that mean because horror games are more indie dev that they’ve fallen as well? Also people aren’t mad about just dates. Where you mention dark forces being the first game with looking up and down isn’t true, it’s marathon. When you mention about halo not being an arena shooter, then use split gate as an arena shooter when it’s based off halo. Not only that but the team fortress quake mod wasn’t to compete with valve. I just feel that this video was rushed and has too many inaccuracies and again, saying a genre is dead because it’s no longer mainstream doesn’t mean it’s dead. So many amazing games have been made using this style by indie devs such as ultrakill. I hope you can make a proper response video to this where you admit you not only got dates wrong but facts and evidence to say these things
ОтветитьThis dude is talking out of his butt so hard, its kinda sad.
ОтветитьTim Rogers said it best, "if you don't like Dusk...you don't like action games."
@108
Quake 3 is what brought me to PC from consoles. Miss that game.
ОтветитьIt's important to mention that Goldeneye was made by RARE and not Nintendo which is a very important difference. Because without them- Nintendo would only be half of what they are- they then later "let them go" to Microsoft because apparently- their games didnt "sell too well"- instead of supporting them- Myamoto became a Martyr
ОтветитьHearing Quake II Music- Duke Nukem and Doom altogether - i never knew how maximum kickass overload this is
ОтветитьIm just now getting into quake 2, and I even bought Daddy Duke. I really like the quake games.
ОтветитьI remember unreal tournament that was so much fun
ОтветитьNever consider it but I agree that nothing made me drop a game faster than bad match making.
The last massive competitive shooter I was in to was Apex Legends and I love it until I won a game 1 time and was permanently locked in to playing cocain aim bots
man i miss doom 2016's multiplayer i don't know what eternal thought it was doing with its multiplayer
ОтветитьYeah I feel that after Halo 3, Bungie was in a position between Modern Fps and Arena shooters, they could choose to between following the COD trend or expanding Halo sandbox into a more arena shooter style, but I guess the safe play was following COD.
With the recent downfall of Halo Infinite and the acquisition of id Software by Microsoft, I wouldnt mind a Halo spin-off more Arena-like. No sprint, faster pace, but still maintaining the core gameplay of 2 weapons + shield. Idk... could work.
