I've done the same thing on a few occasions.
ОтветитьBy old Subaru standards that filter has lots of access. The old webbing strap filter wrenches work very well and only need about 25mm of clearance in one place around the filter.
The screwdriver trick is ok but a pal of mine tried it and ripped the filter almost in half without shifting it. And once you have punched a hole in the filter you are very committing.
This video helped. Thanx bro
ОтветитьWho’s the jackalope that put it on so tight to begin with??
ОтветитьYour lucky there was room to even get a hammer in there, mine is above my drive shaft and there is no room to get a hammer in there.
ОтветитьDrill it. Don't hammer it. The thread will be damaged. Leaking problem.
ОтветитьOriginal equipment. Cant go wrong
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьThis helped so much!! I was struggling for about 30 minutes then I saw your video. Saved me so much time!
ОтветитьOmg your a life saver changed dozens of vehicles never had one this stuck for a moment I thought it was reverse threading!!!
ОтветитьNext time, punch a hole directly in the bottom of the oil filter so that you won't have that used oil cascade spill over from the top of it that makes a mess.
ОтветитьWhy didn't you poke a hole in the bottom, and drain it completely. Then do your thing, with the screwdrivers. Alot less mess"
ОтветитьEasiest assessable filter ive ever seen
ОтветитьGreat job
ОтветитьI keep tearing through the f***ing metal 😭😭😭
ОтветитьThere is something call oil filter wrench
ОтветитьUsed engine oil causes skin cancer. You should always use latex gloves.
Ответитьbro
ОтветитьJust brute force it!!🤣🤣 I manged to get it off thanks.
ОтветитьIS this oil or water
ОтветитьFuck. All these "stuck" videos aren't stuck, if a screwdriver, strap wrench or 3 prong work...it's not "stuck"
ОтветитьThis helped me today! Thank you sooo much!!
ОтветитьI found putting sand paper over the filter, with the filter wrench gets a good hold on it
Ответитьthat thing was tight. good thing you pounded it in there
ОтветитьThank you 🙏🤩 this will be my new trick for life!!
ОтветитьEasy way use band wrench and move all the way up and turn it to the left it's gonna loose if it's too tight
ОтветитьGreat idea
ОтветитьI can’t believe people are cheap. Buy a friggen oil filter wrench only 10 bucks wow 😢😢😢😢
ОтветитьYou saved my day thabks
ОтветитьScrewdriver's currently stuck in & the filter is still not budging! Going to keep trying different screw drivers.
ОтветитьThe problem is assholes that use the tool and feel like they have crank it as far as it will go, anyone that does that is an idiot. Hand tight, then quarter turn. Anything more is unnecessary and stupid
ОтветитьOn my car there's a bunch of hoses in the way and you can barely fit your hand in there let alone a screwdriver so this won't work for me unfortunately guess I'll just have to buy a new car
ОтветитьI just want to say that this was the best video ever. I was working on my 01 Miata today and the filter was not coming off. It took 3 trips to the store and 3 tools before looking for other methods. I finally tired this and got it off in about 5 minutes. I still cannot believe. I can’t thank you enough
ОтветитьAlways where gooves dont be that tuff guy who doesnt wear gloves
ОтветитьThank you for this tip !! First time changing oil today and this was a big help ! 👌🏽
Ответитьlooks like a penzoil lube place pot it on and a monkey dind put oil on o ring then tighten with a wrench
ОтветитьThis actually helped me today. However, it is important not to damage the middle bolt that is inside, keeping a bit of a distance is safe.
ОтветитьTried this. Put a hole in the filter, it still wouldn’t turn. Just ripped the hole bigger while turning the screw driver. This is stupid.
ОтветитьMmm burnt oil all in my pores , favorite past time
ОтветитьMy go to is to use a large jaw channel lock pipe wrench. Parallel with the filter. Can use a second channel lock to turn but I find just the one works well. Twist it like you’re using a screwdriver. Easy and fits in most places, just cut off the length of the handle if needed. Don’t need to hammer in a screwdriver.
ОтветитьActually I'm pretty upset about the repair shops that change my oil the last two times. I do not know what the rents those oil filters on with but I can never get them off so ridiculous I have to do the same thing with a screwdriver
ОтветитьAfter an hour I got it
ОтветитьThanks for posting, just did this with no issues afterwards
ОтветитьWorked like a charm. Thanks for the video!
ОтветитьAny damage from over tightening? Strip a thread?
ОтветитьThey are rated for 20k. I'll just run 12 on this filter , put fresh oil in, and buy the tool for next time. If this screws anything up I will miss work on my first night and lose my job.
ОтветитьYou are not less than a legend it worked for me today mate thanks with like and sub
ОтветитьObviously whoever put that filter on didn't know what the hell they were doing, the other thing is I've seen guys use this method and just end up with tearing the outer shell of the filter and then they are screwed. Buy the appropriate filter wrench it's worth the money.
