In this scenario, the toddlers/puppies start crying/barking louder to draw their mothers’/owners’ attention from what they perceive as the “parasite”.

Or maybe the toddlers tink that their mom is gone crazy, thinking a lifeless doll is their baby, and they don't know how to contact a mental clinic.

when my little sister was about a year old, my mom had a really close friend who would sometimes drop her daughter (a few months younger than my sister) off to be babysat while she ran errands.

sometimes, because we didn't really keep formula in the house, my mom would call their friend and ask if they could breastfeed the baby (which has been normal for centuries, it was nbd since they were both okay with it)

well. one day my baby sister sees my mom feeding the friends baby. she got Mad. she crawled up to my mom's lap and bit the baby's foot as hard as she could with her tiny gum-teeth. after that, mom had to make sure my sister was occupied before she fed the baby 😂

The first day I went to see my younger brother who was just anew born baby and sleeping in my mother's lap i quickly went and slapped his face and i started to cry and I was near to two yr old.

I remember my mum telling me about how for some reason when my brother was born, i started vying for the baby’s attention and got angry when he was with my mum

There’s more going on than jealousy I think. Mom has another baby all of a sudden? There’s a lot to process there in just one tiny moment.
