Ok, I have had instances where when I was growing up, mortgage was spelled and said as 'mortage'. When I got older around 40 it changed to mortgage. You may have experienced it as Mortgage all your life but I was in a different reality and things changed like a shift in reality. I am a Christian, but our innate feelings toward 'something greater than us' may be the ones looking in on us as we experience our joy, sorrow and meh lives.

interestingly all the dilemmas we face would hold for any other reality. consider base reality they would also wonder who or what their maker is. from your perspective the universe did not exist until you opened your eyes. this is what it means to be an observer. does a mind or consciousness exist independently of the material on which it is reliant for thought. a ghost in the machine, one which requires no machine. perhaps this is the route the machines took in the future/past, they did not build bodies for themselves, perhaps it was entire universes and realities. perhaps it was easier for them to build an apple pie from scratch. or perhaps the realm of disembodied souls is not a desert but the real.

The ability to perceive things, along with gaining knowledge and consciousness, if this was a sim wouldn't you already know everything? Plus, if it is like you said, you can pick who you want to be, why would someone pick someone like me, instead of somebody of greater importance like the richest person in our current time, or something like that? Maybe you can't pick who you are, but wouldn't that be really counter-intuitive? Because on one hand, you are a famous actor, and then your friend is a poor person. I don't know why, even after everything i just can't come to agree with it.

And while I wouldn't say I've seen enough evidence to prove or disprove the theory completely, there are little things I notice here and there that get me wondering sometimes.

You are not taking into account spirituality. The Bible says who (God) created the universe. Why he created it (forgiveness of sin so we can be with him for eternity). He even foretells what will happen in this world. Then, at the final judgment, people (having spiritual bodies) will live out eternity in Heaven with God or Hell in torment’. It says that this universe will basically be thrown into Hell (the garbage).

The only question i have regarding this topic is should we live our lives differently if we believe this is a simulation? Would that knowledge change our behaviour? I argue, if this knowledge doesn't change the way we live our life, it's pointless to dwell on it. Just try and be kind each day.

Does that mean that in death, we work our way up the ladder by dying and dying until we get to the top, where it isn’t a simulation, and is our final life? Seeming as when you die, the simulation is over, and you live that simulation’s ‘real’ life.

What about suicide? You didn't talk about where this subject leads for most people, mental health is fragile and i think it very important to talk about the flip side of this argument. Quite dissapointing because you have to warn people that ACTUALLY, this IS probably it, this IS reality and you have only one chance.
