DJI Action 3 vs Osmo Action vs GoPro 11: Are These Downgrades?!

Actually sat all the way through, which I never, ever do with product review videos. Enjoyed the style.

Visually on an iPad Pro screen the DJI 3 looked vastly superior in image detail and contrast ratio vs the GoPros. The other issue you run into when you start researching GoPros is the sheer number of horror stories from the dreaded bricked device scenario or the rubbish battery life issue which apparently is real. Just puts you off immediately. I’m sure the dji suffers from the same but makes making a choice a minefield.

What ppl are not saying about hero 11 it records in hevc or h.265 a headace for normal consumer to edit the video. At least dji osmo action 3 gives a choice to use h.264 in most modes not hevc. Anything over 30 fps in 4k and hyperlaspe mode uses hevc files only in osmo 3 and anything in 10 bit also uses hevc files.

I have a bunch of GoPros…But the osmo action 1 is a great contender. But the GoPro sharpness on detail wins but, just looking for a budget double screen camera. The osmo action wins on that end with the low price

Very interesting comparison, especially between Action 1 and 3. I didn't expect 240fps mode to be so bad on the Action 3. I should try to compare 240fps between my Action 1 and 2 (which should be extremely similar to 3).

One thing I have to ask: are lenses interchangeable between 1 and 3? I'm having a hard time finding an original spare for my 1.

GoPro takes awesome footage, when it works. Unfortunately their quality control sucks and they have a few design flaws going all the way back to the Hero 9, that they refuse to address. Random lockups and overheating issues... Their cameras are simply not reliable.

The new DJI Action 3 takes video that is damned near as good as the GoPro, but its WAY more reliable and doesn't overheat... I will take the camera that is 95% as good and works every time, over the one that looks 100% but fails 1/3 of the time...

Funny…in several other reviews the GoPro colours looked better, with the DJI looking a bit overblown. Here I often preferred the DJI.

I don't know if anyone else has asked this....did you try using the blue USB C lead from the Sennheiser mic on any other mic that you have> I have the action ! with a deity duo mic in a smallrig cage and love the setup but I'm wanting more ( not going the gopro brought). would this be something you could test ( USB C lead on another mic on the action 3) thanks for reviewing all 3 cameras...its answered nearly all my questions. cheers

I don´t know what´s going on with your video footages, but in your videos gopro quality 11 looks just horrible when the truth is that gopro video quality beats dji 3 with no any problem

LRV is low resolution video (mp4). I actually sometimes use them as proxy files in editing. No need to ingest in Premiere. THM is for thumbnails (jpg probably). Your little camera needs those files to show video thumbnails and play them on the tiny screens.

When GoPro is more reliable you’ve made a terrible camera. I’ve had audio issues with a Hero 5 & a Hero 9. Was considering trying a DJI but not after seeing this. The Hero 10 seems to be reliable so far and not as buggy as previous versions. Hoping they can stay that way from here forward.
