i understand that the stomach has to break down proteins, but what is the benefit to denaturing them? as you explained it in the video it sounds like breaking down and denaturing are the same, but i thought denaturing meant the protein loses its function. what is the benefit to a denatured protein?

You could have also explained what happens with the Food before it comes in contact with the Stomach Acid. I think this would have been an essential Part of how/why the Acid works.
Let´s say the Burger: We bite off a piece of a tasty Burger. We chew the Burger piece to break it further down into more little pieces and "mix" it with our oral fluid. Then we swallow it, where it comes into the stomach and in contact with the acid.
We do this to extend the surface area of the Burger, so that the Stomach acid can work far more effective than on a great chunk.
Before going into the colon the Burger would sit around 5-8hours in the Stomach acid.
(at least it´s a superficial explanation)
