Please do more music ;D
ОтветитьNeat lyrics on the old music.
Edit: oh nevermind, it’s a scam
I’m a writer fundamentally, and I have these ideas for stories that I believe would be best told through a video game.
When I tell you I have no experience, I mean I barely even play video games. But I want to learn so I can create my vision in the best way possible.
For a long time I was scared to do things that were “outside of my skill level” as though the point isn’t to improve over time. If you want to make video games because you want to be a video game designer, that’s really awesome. And if you want to make video games because you think it would be fun, that’s cool too.
Relatable
ОтветитьFelt that copyright part fr😅
ОтветитьEven if those projects that you made on your own turned out cringe it becomes a collection that can be worth something for others and honestly should be seen as your own personal achievements😤🤧💻📈
ОтветитьHey thomas, thanks for the video guide. I am a 23 year old web developer working at a service based company and it was always my dream to become a game developer since I was a child. I understand the journey is not easy but how do I get started?
I mean, should I be publishing my own games in Steam or should I be joining a Game Studio Company at an Entry Level? And if so, how do you apply for that. I would really like a shift in my domain.
This isn't how you made games with no experience, you just described spending years getting experience.
Ответить❤❤
ОтветитьCrazy because I’m an aspiring music producer and just randomly woke up wanting to learn how to make a game
ОтветитьThank you. I have been working on my first indie game on and off half-assed for 4 years now. It’s not really something I’m proud of so it’s hard to put time into it and finish it. It started off as a small project with a buddy of mine because “haha funny” and then we just added waaaaay too much. I’d love to finish it and make a game I’m actually passionate about. Thanks for motivating me to release my cringe game so I can finally get SOMETHING out there and get some experience before moving onto worthwhile stuff.
Basically it’s a top-down 2D game where you run around a house eating as much food, and smoking as much weed as possible, all while trying to avoid your parents. It’s funny but embarrassing to me because I’m nothing like that in real life, and I was worried that a game like this would stick to my name negatively somehow. Idk. I’m just a ball of anxiety I guess lol.
So the key to success is finding a girl who will support you and be your wife and support you more in the journey?
Rip me I guess since that wont happen.
dude looks like henry cavill saying he's shy
ОтветитьI make music why not try adding this to the list i want to create. Might turn into something 🤔
ОтветитьThat is so cool nice designs
Ответитьamazing story bro god bless
ОтветитьI’m considering making mobile games as a 13 year old but don’t have much experience apart from computer science lessons where we would make games but never actually learnt anything because it was just moving coloured blocks and my teachers weren’t great (we used scratch for computing) but this has given me some hope that over time I will be able to achieve what I want to achieve
ОтветитьIf u make that game ha me thinking all world play your game

ОтветитьI am Working on a RPG where players assume the roles of four distinct animatronics. The captivating storyline revolves around a spirit who unveils a dire situation: their friends are in desperate need of rescue. As these 4 animatronics embark on an epic quest, they will engage in intense battles against a variety of monsters and creatures kinda like earthbound. while unraveling the enigmatic secrets surrounding the spirits....How does it sound..(any advise ?
Ответитьgreat message, really inspiring, embrace that cringy stuff and use it as fuel
ОтветитьI began my personal journey into the world of making games 2 years ago. I started out by writing a story for a poorly made visual novel for the SBIG jam (So Bad It’s Good jam) of 2021. That sparked something in me. Immediately after I tried another jam but solo. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to submit a game since I spent so long trying to learn how to make character art, but that began a personal project for me with a story idea I love. I’ve been slowly getting ideas for the game, however it kind of fell flat. I have so many game ideas, but I don’t know how to go about making them. This past month I was able to get back into game jams. I’ve built a little bit of a portfolio with some writing samples since 2021. I joined the Adventure Jam and created a small demo of a platformer that is very story heavy. The people I worked with and I have agreed to continue working on the game because it has such a good story with unique gameplay. As of right now I decided to try my hand at game art so I can build skills for when I continue one of my many personal projects. Sometimes I look at other people’s games and think “Man what I’m making is kinda weird” or “I wish my game looked that good”. This video motivated me to work harder, and to keep making short little games that have odd stories. Thank you
ОтветитьI don't know what i m doing, but this helps
Ответитьlol no experence /= spending your whole life doing it
ОтветитьI ain't got any experience because I was a kid I didn't have a computer or even a phone now I am older I have a laptop and phone but no idea how to make things and when I do try I don't know how to start I get scared that I m wasting my time.I want to make a 2d game like ratchet and clank going mobile or soul knight but I don't know what to do.I also can't remember stuff also because I have attention problems is the course you teaching will it Teach me everything about 2d games.I m 21 years old.I decided to not make Game when I saw your harsh truths video.
ОтветитьSo if I wanted to just start a project almost 100% from no knowledge about game and world creation. Where would I start. I'm not looking into making a big profit over what I create. I just want to make something. Something to take time and keep me interested in. Something to let me give to a community. I just want to create with almost no imagination. So where can I start.
ОтветитьGreat Thomas thanks to you I started developing a game your advice is precious
ОтветитьThose animation looks so cool!
ОтветитьHi Thomas,
I'm a big fan! I wanted to ask a question: I know you said in one of your videos that my first indie game should not be my dream game, but I'm really putting a lot of work into it and also I made a lot of games, even if I didn't publish any of them. Thank you very much!
Absolutely fantastic explanation and visualization about what’s happening! Thank you 🙏🏻
ОтветитьI'm a full time professional enterprise app developer, looking for a right moment to do a switch into gaming industry... Game development sound exciting to me but I have lots of doubts about it.
ОтветитьThe only thing harder than Solo Gamedev on this planet is Solo Gamedev itself.
Ответитьwhat are your views on mobile game dev vs pc game dev? which one would you suggest for begainer?
ОтветитьDo somebody know where i can find codes for me to copy and paste for my hack and slash game??
ОтветитьMy dream is to make games but honestly i dont know if im smart enought for it ive tryed to learn code for 10 years now even buyed 3 books and… i cant remmember even a single line of code or what it do. Im also tarrible at math… is there eny hope for me?
ОтветитьHey your video is amazing...I was wondering if you can help me out...I am try to use shader graph 2D but when i add my texture which had come with my water sprite from photoshop...the texture is not covering the full screen which is making the shaders to come out wrong...is there a way of resizing the texture...
ОтветитьHi Thomas i was watching your older videos and you say you use spine 2D for your animations i was just wondering id the essential version is good for game developing as i cannot afford the professional one.
Ответитьyou created The Coma!! when I was kid in middle school sick and at home I found this game randomly while playing flash games whole day which most of the kids did while sick and not in school lol... anyway, it completely bewitched me and stuck with me for such a long time, I remember that day and this game in such details and I'm 27 years old now. So great to find this video now :)
ОтветитьDude I still use Flash (Harman AIR now). I used to for 15 years and because I used it for making App's I gave it a shot for making a cool game. 3 year's later I got something cool to show.
ОтветитьI always felt game development was the best way to teach someone programming. It has a ton of tools to make the programming super easy, while still giving access to deep dives into algorithmic design, graphics, sound, hardware, etc.
ОтветитьHey Thomas, I am in the Full Time Game Dev Programme. Could I use the art that you show in the course... what I mean by that is, could I make a website, twitter, etc with the art that we are using in the Full Time Game Dev programme. I'm planning on using the art that we are making and not changing anything. So thats why I'm asking if i could use it. Thanks in advance!
ОтветитьFor anyone who lacks self-confidence at their craft, check out the Dunning-Krugger effect. It will make you feel better for being so self-critical.
ОтветитьWatching this while thinking up of a game idea I’m getting too into
ОтветитьFantastic video Thomas! 😊
