Sonogram: Vanishing Twin at 11 weeks

This video clearly shows a beautiful fetus at 11 weeks gestation! It also shows a second, "vanishing" twin as well.

A vanishing twin is, in fact, fairly common. The risks of a vanishing twin to the surviving fetus are several, and include increased risk of maternal high blood pressure later in the pregnancy as well as an increased risk that the surviving baby will grow a bit smaller in the womb. There should be no lasting problems to the surviving twin, however, and this woman still has an excellent prognosis!
