I love to watch these critiques, make you think twice before shooting, so honest too, thank you Jared:)
ОтветитьI feel like the super click bait title doesn't even apply.
ОтветитьI'd have to disagree about the "dead space" comment. Cropping a photo in too much makes the people feel too cramped. It's called the rule of thirds for a reason. Negative space is good and pleasing to the eye!!
ОтветитьI hate those “Potato” baby pics and the cupping the tummy pregnant pics!
So freaking played out.
very nice video
ОтветитьReading the comments, I am perplexed, no, saddened at how “refreshing” honesty has become. Your brand of critique is great - strong opinions based on experience and calling a spade a spade (not insulting the spade maker). No problems there.
Why do people not get honest feedback from people anymore though? Has the world gone soft thinking that the first effort is the best effort, and any effort is worthy of a trophy?
Well, sweet cheeses on pizzas - keep dishing up the honesty. I hear on a podcast years ago feedback is the breakfast of champions 💪😎
Love his critiques lol
ОтветитьFro is the Simon Cowell or Gordon Ramsay of photography 😂😂
ОтветитьBruh, how do I get you to dunk on my photos??
ОтветитьIs it just me or over editing is killing photos? Don't get me wrong, I like to edit the pics I take, but take a look at dog photography and you'll see that pretty much everybody is using gradients and vignettes to an extreme level. Take it easy guys, it's just an opinion.
ОтветитьAs a parent I can tell you that you love seeing your kid in pretty much anything. Part of the reason I got into photography is because I wanted good pictures of my kids. You should have one. A pro like you could do amazing things. You'll look at the pictures and find yourself grinning without even realizing it. Not just because they're good pictures, but because something you love more than anything is in them. Just looking at them makes you feel good.
ОтветитьSome good info but mostly “well this isn’t how I would have done it so I don’t like it.” Lol
ОтветитьI think it’s irrelevant what gear they used to capture the images unless there is a problem.
ОтветитьI must be getting better because I was saying things before you said them and we said, the same thing! LOL Great stuff! Fun video. You made me laugh when you commented with the funny comments about the dog and the baby. Babies don't sleep like that and I'm sniffing you! 😆😆😆
We share the same humor too! 👍
You’re being honest and kind.
ОтветитьAgh, the fire emoji, god I hate it when I get that comment...
ОтветитьI like the color pallet of the baby shots, making them almost monocromatic. My hand was also itching to reach the contrast slider, but flatness is a style, just like black and white and much other. The one at the football field. i dont think it is off, all of the other lines are horizontal, I think it is the running track that is turning giving the illution that it is off. People kissing dogs is wierd. Having the number 7 in focus, if it is important somehow, you can do that but your eyes should be in that same line, so they are also sharp or it will breake a photo. Baby photos are a bit wierd to me, because they make these victorian era like images, and they dont tell a story. It's like those photo walls with a hole in, where you stik your head in and the wall is painted so it looks like you are a cowboy or something. It only tells the story that you were silly enough to do it, and the baby photo only tells the story that you went to a photographer to get a baby images. If you as an artist use a baby as a model to sell baby stuff, then it's ok, but if you are doing a portrait for the parrents to hang on the wall, then... well it is cute for about 2 seconds, but it is not a memory. However if you are trying to sell baby images, then these are perfect.
The problem with critique is that images dont speak for them selves so we dont know what the story that the photographer was trying to tell. Have you taken an image to get a good critique or to say something about a product, a memory, or what ever. And often they just become someone who doesn't understand your work, dumping on it and telling you to take the same photos as all the other guys and never really stand out. So good or bad critique doesn't always reflect if you have made a good or bad image, or even if it works or not.
I think they were clearly taken by a very capable photographer and I like to see the awareness towards the color pallet really shines through
who really cares what they are taken with? Z something or canon this sony that? we only care if the photo is good
ОтветитьAnd, if you degrade all photography critique into a matter of "personal choice", that's just unethical. There is definitely a hierarchy in photography, there are "bad", "better", "good" or "great" photos, and as an experienced photographer who knows what he is talking about, you gotta stand for what you believe is good photography.
ОтветитьBottom right hand corner appears to be a download button.
ОтветитьYup. On your position on maternity shoots.
ОтветитьAwe man you would shred me if you saw my work.
Ответитьthe fake sun flares in LR using the radial gradient always have me dead lol.
Ответитьthe background looks like a painted backdrop. On 1st photo, red dress pregnant woman.
ОтветитьIn the maternity photo with the red dress the fake sun burst you can see where it ends at the bottom of her dress. its a straight line where it cuts off.
ОтветитьThe pursuit of external validation is likely the biggest stumbling block to your progression as a photographer.
Ответитьmeanwhile, theres a download button in the bottom right corner hahah
ОтветитьI’m from the UK and I want an I shoot raw T-shirt in black but they’re all sold out.
Pull your finger out please good sir?
Hey great video! Just one thing, noticed you are using Calendly. Not sure if you have a CRM to manage your customers and do marketing, but would advise Pipedrive for it. Easy, clean and well priced.
ОтветитьThank you for showing us how to plow through the decisions we just need to make and to move on ... and produce more! Great channel :-)
ОтветитьThe hat thing the pregnant lady is wearing is a representation of the Sun Goddess and Amenra .
"Christians" hijacked it for their deity.
Example:
Christians end prayer with Amen.
This was the term used when praying to their king AmenRa.
Looks like I’ll not be shooting any Family Photos anytime soon … I couldn’t shoot this stuff with any honesty or genuine interest.
ОтветитьWay to much babies.
But I did like this video.
All my friends are photographers, my family is death and probally know some other people who aren't photographers. So that helps me a lot. Though wish they would critique more, I do it to.
ОтветитьEven exposed fractures looks cute when you have kids.
ОтветитьI agree Jared.
ОтветитьI want to do a critique some day. I'm tired of being gassed up by my family and friends. I'm ready for Jared to tear me to shreds.
ОтветитьI’m thinking you should have a Froto-contest!
ОтветитьOverkill and fakery plastic EDITS is what my customers want and some even demand Instagram like filters applied.
There have been times when I get pissed off and tell them to use their stupid iPhone or Android
I don’t think Jared is a big fan of babies 😂😂😂
ОтветитьGreat Video!
ОтветитьNumber 2
ОтветитьI still shoot on a canon xsi, i just have L lenses and most of my pics go on instagram not a 30x40 print
ОтветитьI don't know I kind of turn my contrast down on my camera cuz sometimes the contrast on the camera itself makes my pictures a little darker than I say I took them now I'm talking to the phone I'm not on some fancy computer where I can add commas and periods and stuff like that so forgive me for my run-on sentence
ОтветитьPressing the "shutter" button is only half of the job, the main part is the editing.
I edit virtually all of my photos, even if it's only a slight adjustment to the exposure.
With sports and wildlife, you don't get the chance to compose the shot.
I think most of your critique is valid. However repetitive statements that maternity, baby pics etc etc are not your cup of tea are getting old. That’s not a critique it’s a bias. If don’t don’t have kids or babies you don’t understand. Most baby pics are done in a controlled environment often with backdrops etc.
ОтветитьI love doing these critiques. I've been stopped so many times by people who tell me how helpful these types of videos are. That's why I offer different options for people to get their work critiqued. This time around, the moral of the story is consistency. I think their work is solid and with a few tweaks will really POP!!!!
