GTX 1060 6GB in 2023 - Is it Still Good at 1080p Gaming?

I have a 1060 3gb and I can play cyberpunk at low preset fsr quality with 60-70 fps. Games like CS2 at high settings easily getting 190-220 fps. It's definitely nearing the end of its days but considering how long ago I bought it definitely a win. Going to upgrade to a 4070 super in the next month or two.

On it right now. I be playing PSO2 at 1440p too. Well worth the money when I bought it in 2017

Will the graphics from 1060 6gb beat the onboard graphics from a ryzen 5 4600G ????? I’ve been using the asus 1060 6gb and choose to upgrade to the AMD rx 7800xt paired with a i7 10700k. My daughter pc has the ryzen 5 4600g and using on board graphics. So when I get the 7800xt in I was considering putting the 1060 6gb in with the ryzen 5 4600g but was wondering if it was worth it or to just stick with the on board graphics from the processor??????

About to upgrade from my 1060 6gb. Would you recommend building a second pc with the 1060 just to resell? Or would I never get my money back doing it that way.

Still have it and use it until now after over 7 years. Hasn’t failed me yet. Definitely a GPU worth the money during its heyday.

This is useless, your cpu gives 10-20fps more. Nobody will pair a new cpu with this gpu.

And my question is, What "Motherboard & CPU" (at a cheap price as I do ONLY have £200ish to spend), do I Buy for my below optioned specs?

I want to buy Ryzen 5, I hope also to buy DDR4 Ram x2 8GB 3200MHz, ( I already own 600W PSU & My GIGABYTE GTX 1060 6GB GPU + my 500GB SSD + a Dell 22" 1080 Monitor), I have for the Windows 11 Installation + PC Case .

So yes its a "Budget Build", (After all the above Maybe £60.00 / £80.00ish left ), Gulp, my first ever go, so I can't afford to make a mistake, so this is why I've come to you my friend.

It's going to be a struggle I know, for me because of my limited fiancial savings because of a substantial disability, but that won't hold me back, I will do it, please with your help.

I do have a DellOptiplex 9020 with a i5 4690 @3.50GHz Haswell, 32GB DDR3@798mh, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit... But I want to run Windows 11, (Future Proof).

what a thumbs down of the CENTERY is this mf testing and asking is 2013 consoles games and 2-5 year old games good on old hardware.. hes broken... hes saying "in 2023 is 213 tech still good?".. because hes testing games on 2013 hardware... like wtf and omg... is it possible to report videos for wasting time and even 3 world country tech time? doom eternal was brakinfg 200 fps at 4k over a year ago so 1080 1/4 the demaning power at a pitful 92,,, fyi the crappy switch 299 in 2017 runs doom so 6 years later on MORE EXPENSIVE hardeware... u tube need to have avoiting system to vote out videos that lack kid lvl math... the new i phone beat all of your games fyi

i do not play those demanding graphics games.

I have a gigabyte 2 fan 1060 6 GB and still giving me between 70 and 100 fps. bought it new the only thing i did is change the thermal paste and it still works fine for me. no over heeting what soever. 4090 GPU expensive and too hot = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ i do not need those head haches and melt down we see occuring.

my rx 580 lies of p on gamepass shuts down i don't know why but it works fine on my 1060 6gb one

i sitll use gtx 1060 i only play on 1080p and it gets the job done for me but with unreal engine 5 this card is gonna suffer

i love games and i am getting an msi gaming laptop with gtx 1060 6gb with i7 7700hq and 16 ram to play on it and using it to learn programing and editing and more
it's my first ever gaming machine i have only a low end mobile phone and i am exited to get it and i think its great for me it can run mid and low and indie games on highest graphics and high fps and can run high end games on lower settings and all at 1080p
and i dont have problem with newer games i can play it
my goal is to play every game in the world 😂
is it good as a first ever laptop ?

I just picked up a new PC with a MB and CPU combo that I couldn't pass on for the price, and it came with one of those cute Zotac 1060s, though it's got 3GB, and brand new! Where do they even get these things new at this point? Hilarious. I tested it a bit before swapping it for my ancient 1070ti, and I was pretty surprised at how good it is. Could barely tell the difference from the 1070ti on my 60hz TV on older games and platform games, the only one that choked a bit was Trine 5 at max settings.

i use a 1070, my only main concern is if it starts to heat up too much on more quality>performace games

I wonder why do lots of benchmarks have totally different results, sometimes I'd end up with a benchmark that has like around 55 fps average in cyberpunk low preset native res and like 67fps average in FH5 on high preset. Same with the other games.

I do suspect it being usually because of the difference in configurations but this should be unlikely as the GPU would be what is bottlenecking the whole PC or it would be because of the difference of drivers and game updates.

It's unbelievable how PC gaming for budget users like me is becoming obsolete quickly.

Great! The Zotac 1060 “mini”, as it is called, actually has a larger heat sink than then the entry level EVGA 1060.

Your temperatures are surprisingly decent. I wonder if the Zotac has a different fan profile.

There also exists a Zotac AMP version with twin fans but I have not seen one in person.

While the RX580 8GB might win by a hair in some regard, I still prefer my trusty 1060 for lower overall temperatures causing less noise.

After testing several 1060s side by side I find that the cooler it is, the faster it goes.

I’d offer people the RX580 8GB over the 1060 6GB but even if I explain the RX580 the better buy people always choose the 1060 🤦🏽

I had exact same card as you, would oc like crazy on core and memory with decent temps ran it like that for 5 years with zero issues just some new thermal paste

Just compared the 580 and 1060 on my channel. Overall, for the price, I determined the RX 580 is probably the better value. Surprisingly , the 1060 did slightly better in most of my in game testing. Admittedly, I did not test either card is as many newer titles as I would have liked but I'm sure the RX 580 would have pulled away more in those games.
