Create AAC version is missing in iTunes latest version

it's not letting me convert to aac

The file menu version doesn't respect start and end times and converts the entire song. You still need to cut it down if you want to use it as a ring tone. Apparently, iTunes no longer does this.

It is a hassle, but I also use a converter program called iSkysoft which can convert about anything to anything else. Great program. A hassle, but it works too.

Hey thanks! This was very helpful. It was a minor issue for me, but iTunes wouldn't let me add artwork that I would find for old LPs I was converting when it was a WAV file. This worked perfectly.

"Create AAC Version" is still grayed out for me and I'm pretty sure the file I'm trying to convert is not a tone... Help?
