Love these tips as I am a new Shepherd (mix) puppy owner and he is SO smart and I am struggling to get all the essential training elements down, so THANK YOU Tom!!
ОтветитьThanks for the vid! Considering adopting a German Shepard from the shelter, want to make sure she gets the life she deserves. Working on learning mental exercises, physical won’t be a problem I’m training for a marathon!
ОтветитьAwesome training! New Shepard seeks small dog?
ОтветитьThis is so helpful. Thanks for making it simplified because it can get overwhelming when trainers give a lot of info at once. I'm working on teaching our 7 week old Shepsky. She learns fast & I want her to learn the right things. Thanks again!
ОтветитьSo I guess I'm the only one who watched this video and didn't understand how do you get the dog to stay I've been able to get my German Shepherd to come sit and stay but the minute I leave he jumps up and follows me 😅 I think there needs to be a video that teaches how to get the GSD to stay in the maintain the stay position🎉
ОтветитьAWESOME! Thank you 🙂
ОтветитьI recently got a German shepherd… I wasn’t wanting another dog but he was near death from starvation and was in a very small kennel with his own poo. So, I’ve had him about 6minths and he’s near full weight but he’s so mentally bored. I really need any resources for rescues or fosters.
Anything that I can do to help him in the meantime ? He doesn’t care much for toys. Just me. He’s so affectionate and wants to always be with me and I have bare minimum time to spend with him.
Thank you! I recently adopted a GSD from the local rescue. This is very helpful!
Ответитьcould you do this kind of video with a puppy & show us step by step how to do it? man my puppy is 8 weeks old and he really doesn't listen he's a GSD x border collie, he isn't food motivated and not being toy motivated, he listens to sit & goes to the toilet outside but that's it nothing else? am I expecting to much from him?
Ответитьhow to do this with two dogs gets challenging to try to keep both in place. They feed off each other. any suggestions
ОтветитьThank you for this, I have a GSD who is anxious and reactive
ОтветитьLove it! Thanks man. Just got a 2.5 month old Shepherd from a humane society. He’s been awesome but has weak legs or maybe hip dysplasia. Any tips ??
ОтветитьTom, is 10 weeks too young to start this? Im so confused and get so many mixed suggestions.
Ответитьa friend of mine have a german shepard but the poor thing is blocked up in a crate bites my friend and even growls at her i said that she needs to train her dog but she doesnt want to..i am very scared for her and i really wanna help her but im scared of dogs myself..
ОтветитьThank you so much for your help you're totally awesome 👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьHey I love your technique with training so I got a gsd female puppy and would like more tips or your help thank you your student Kenny
ОтветитьJust got a GSD for my elderly dad. She is 22 weeks. She knows, sit, but so far that's it. She had good manners, but she seems to have been born with those
ОтветитьI just stumbled onto your video. We need you in our home! Lol We just got a GS puppy. She is my 3rd GS I've had in my lifetime and the most challenging. I can't wait to watch more❤.
ОтветитьI have started watching your videos pretty non stop since I found them. We just brought home a 3 month German Shepherd puppy a week ago and I have been implimenting the techniques you show in your videos. They have been doing wonders for Nona (German Shepherd puppy). We also have a 3 year old Standard Poodle, Paxton who is reactive when walking. He barks at just about anyone who walks past and it is really hard to allow people to interact with him because he jumps and just goes crazy and gets excited. He is a very good boy and he is so amazing with our girls, just not strangers. With training Nona, Paxton has been taking to it like a champ. I almost think he enjoys it more than she does. I can now walk the two of them at the same time with little to no reaction. I was wondering if you happen to have any videos with training poodles? I wish I would have stumbled across your videos when he was a puppy, but here we are. I really just don't want Nona picking up Paxton's bad habits, and I would love to work out his bad habits so we don't have the "scary" poodle anymore.
ОтветитьJust got a gs pup female smart and stubborn. This will definitely be a challenge. Thanks for the tip.
ОтветитьThis is my first time watching Tom. I love your straightforward approach to training GSDs and will be implementing some of your great ideas and techniques with our 4 month old pup, Bodie.
ОтветитьLove shepards
Ответитьim wanting a german shepherd when im older but i dont know about jobs while having a german shepherd so i dont kow what job to do mainly because of time
ОтветитьYeah, I could definitely benefit from a one on one. I'd like to start putting my dog in obedience shows, but he isn't obedient lol. He gets distracted REALLY easy. I don't have the money to buy an ecollar. Wish I did because I think it would really help in his sluggish sits and downs. My dog is not food or treat or even toy motivated. He likes these things but he is so lazy he'd rather just ignore me and not do anything lol. I've even skipped up to two meals, trying to see if that would get him food motivated. Nope. I didn't want him to miss his meals more than that. My dog has me pulling my hair out haha. Ive taken him into pet stores w/prong collar and he does great! Even when a dog lunged at him, growling and barking, I said to leave it, and he did! He is just AWEFUL at obedience, especially if his house playmates are around. HELP
Ответитьbeen following you for a long time now, always the best pro to turn to 🎉
ОтветитьGreat tips and advice, love watching your videos! Question about place- we have a raised dog bed we keep by the back door. When guests come over, how far away should the place be? (Back of the house vs a few feet away?)
And if I use a mat closer to the front door, do I still say "place" or do I use a different word since it's a different bed/material?
Thank you for everything, we have a GSD who was attacked as a puppy and now she is scared and reactive, hard work but we owe it to her to feel safe with us and love watching your videos.
ОтветитьLove this video. Very relevant to my Malinois/Doberman cross.
ОтветитьIm training a 4 year old german shephard. He is protecting an afgan restaurant in the gjetto of athen.
Its at the hooker street. He is very same sex aggressive so theres alot of fighting, and every once in a while he bangs a woman. Spent a few months winning his trust with dog candies. Now i take him to the dog park. Not that many dogs i allow him to meet, but some. Very smart dog and he makes me feel like the king og the ghetto walking him.
I have my heart set on a German shepherd. I’m just uncertain I can give them enough exercise. I live in a big house with no yard. I go on three mile runs. I would also go on mini walks throughout the day and training/ play session with the dog. Would this be enough to meet their needs?
ОтветитьQuestion, we have a rescue GSD about 8yrs. old. How do you get him to stop begging for food, even after he has daily meals, and how do you make him STOP barking at every dog he sees? We’ve tried shock collars and strong AH-AHS but to no avail. He also pulls the leash so it’s difficult to walk him. BUT he’s a good watch dog.🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️HELP SOMEONE
ОтветитьThe simple place command has changed me and my dogs relationship dramatically, thanks so much Tom!!
ОтветитьYou have the BEST training videos, thank you! I had 2 TDI GSDS, but haven’t had the time (plus I’m older), to work with my 2 younger ones. So, thank you for all of your pointers!!
ОтветитьI am so excited to be staring my summer vacation. The first thing I'm going to work on with my GSD is the stay position. I'll use a blue travel towel that will be easy to take on our walks. Thank you for all your videos. My GSD Dakota will be 1 in July.
ОтветитьThanks for the reminders- our 6YO GSD whines, and gets anxious when her people ignore her….
ОтветитьGreat video thanks 😊
ОтветитьI really enjoy your videos because you keep it real/don't use fancy terminology/and you don't curse like so many other trainers do. I enjoy teaching kids how to deal with dogs correctly, but, cannot let them see certain training videos because the trainer sounds like they just crawled out of the gutter😮😮 PLEASE continue with your "Family Friendly" style 😊😊
ОтветитьAnother good video. Do you have any videos on introducing to people. My Shepard has growled/lunged at my guest, he’s fine on leash hell sniff and sometime lick but when they go to pet he gets aggressive
ОтветитьI need help! I’d like to have my boy test for his AKC good citizenship certification. My trainer said I need to work on his whining in order to pass. Help! 2 1/2 male GSD
ОтветитьGreat advice! My GSD boy is 10 months and very nervous around people especially men. I know it’s about confidence building and you have lots of knowledgeable videos on how to work your dog (the little daxi Benny for example) with yourself, a trainer. What if we don’t have access to a trainer to work with to build their confidence as often as we would like, or female only trainers in your area. Do I just ask a male figure close to me for their time to run the same style training. I’m finding that difficult a) asking someone to donate their time
B) they don’t know what they are doing .
C) he’s a big boy and they are fearful and makes situation worse
I’d love another video that you can give other ideas for this type of situation.
Thanks Tom, you rock. Love all your videos and would love to work with you! Come to Vancouver my friend! 🙏
All good except when you say place and all 3 GSDs go and begin the wrestling match😂. Excellent tips as always Tom!
ОтветитьGreat video and will use these tips with my shepherd
ОтветитьI just now got a German shepherd and am finding she has no training, is aggressive toward other dogs and other issues. You are becoming a life saver with all of your info thank you.
ОтветитьGreat video!
Ответить🫡
ОтветитьLove your videos. Our 4th GSD had high anxiety and very protective. We try to do both the mental and physical stimulation more than daily but it doesn’t seem enough for her. Would love a training video with her. She is selectively social, we ordered a do not pet collar for her while he hasn’t bit anyone yet she has twice shown wanting behavior when people she doesn’t know try to pet her or enter our “space”. Super intelligent, our most intelligent yet.
ОтветитьNice informative video.
ОтветитьI love your training videos. My daughter bought me a German Shepherd for Christmas 2022. I was planning on getting one much later this year due to me having a lot of physical issues from a car accident. I have tried working within my means in training my Shepherd, but I am way behind in training because of my injuries. My Shepherd has a lot of distraction issues, and his recall isn't at the level I hoped for. I am definitely going to be using the steps you taught in the video. How I wish you were in Australia. I love your videos. It was from you I got a Herm Springer prong collar 💯 % improvement on the lead. Thank you again. God bless you!
ОтветитьHow long can a GSD realistically stay? Mine can stay for like 20 seconds before she starts to whine and get antsy.
ОтветитьNeed to win next pls just got a gsp female pup first dog need help
