I run pfSense, on a mini PC, for my firewall/router. It works well and is far more capable than typical SOHO firewall/routers.

Can you also please explain why we sometimes see conflict between our antivirus software and Windows defender? I use mcafee antivirus sw. Windows warns that it’s firewall is blocked or deactivated. Why does this happen?

So, if a hacker wanted to attack someone, they could call you and say they are seeing issues with your device and would like access to help fix it, the first thing they might request is for you to disable your firewall. Then when they have access to your computer they might do some damage. Not sure, just asking?
