Henny is a western journalist. She thinks in terms of broad brush Western narratives, missing the important detail. Her narrative now is China is going in completely the wrong direction and that everything will collapse. I've met westerners in Hong Kong who don't know the language, haven't travelled on their own in China, can only read the FT and the like, but still feel compelled to lecture about China. If you want to understand China don't listen to Henny. Also, I find it hard to listen to Posen bloviating on China elite politics, something he knows nothing about.

What is a miracle? Miracle is something that has happened or is happening completely unexpectedly or beyond one’s potential. In this sense, this is no such thing as china economic miracle

With all respect to the guest speaker, i don't have his education and experience but i have the culture & background relevant to the country in question, he's really minimizing the risk of Chinese humnint. Strategy is multi faceted, not one dimensional in terms of targeting intellectual theft. Not everyone should be tarred with the same brush. The simple fact is very few Western experts made the right prediction about China. the logic is these so-called China experts are not only biased against China, but they barely know China's history, and culture, and most of them not even have been to China. they apparently have no knowledge of what is China's past or more importantly now. they just wish the thing goes to discretion they wished.

The Chinese Miracle ended much earlier at around 2010.
The growth of economy from 2010 2020 was a mirage powered by large debt expansion.
What is happening now is because debt levels are so high that it drags the economy down.
But let's see what happens in another 10 years.

You don't even know the actually reason for China's economic miracle, and now saying that this miracle is ending. I don't think this concolusion is convincing.

The amazing growth of China was not created by China, it was fueled by Western greed. Manufacturers love a stable, low paid work forces which do not require a pension nor health benefits and the CCP guaranteed this. But now those greedy western manufacturers have come to the realization that China is still a communist country that is run by a ruthless tyrant. Russia's invasion of Ukraine, China's support of Russia (and Iran and North Korea), Xi's imprisonment and murder of successful businessmen, COVID 1 and 2, China's threats of war against their neighbours (Taiwan, India, Philippines, etc) have finally created an awakening in the west where there is a collective understanding that we need to de-risk and divest from China.
The west created China and now needs to undo China by introducing massive tariffs against Chinese goods and move their investments to Chinas democratic neighbours - there are many options: re-patriate strategic businesses, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, South America, and Africa. Spreading that investment around the world will create a much more stable supply chain, dramatically improve the lives of people living in developing democracies, defund China's military, provide democracies with the money necessary to build their own infrastructure and security, and stabilise our own economies to deal with the huge numbers of homeless people. Let's double down on China and push China into a full blown depression. This will be the end of Xi and the end of China's aggression.
