Synology DS920 is not NVR its NAS mainly with basic NVR features. Synology DVA models are NVRs

The power draw is a no go for iris ans such, i got an Annke system and pretty happy with it.

Any thoughts on the Eufy systems, I am looking at how what rtsp solution to use for them.

the best program ive found is securityspy (it's for mac). much better than blue iris, it's worth every penny.

anyone have experience with the Ankke NVR N96PBD vs. the N46PCK? I see some spec differences on their website but not sure the effect any of that would have on me in the "real world."

I've watched all of your camera videos and am debating between a few options (thank you for all the hard work). UniFi Protect with the new G5 Bullets ($129 each, already have a UDM-SE), or putting together a Blue Iris system with Reolink 811As ($100 each), Annke AC800s ($140 each), or Dahua 5442s/5842 ($190/$240 each). Which cameras would you go with? I'm looking for 4 total to start.

Understand the review of the Synology NVR/NAS BUT the one thing that is important to note, is that while the other compared products are single use NVR, the Synology NAS as a ton of other important network features like RAID Network Attached Storage for all your files, pictures, videos, etc.., SMB commercial grade backup and restore including bare-metal, multi-cloud sync/backup, runs docker containers, along with a host of other applications ... so depending on the use case... Surveillance Station is thrown in, and includes 3 licenses. (not really an Apples to Apples comparison)

The fact that Blue Iris runs on Windows is a HUGE NO for me. I need in a container. I need to be be able to run in Kubernetes. To be resilient at least 2 pods running on 2 hosts

I was contemplating Ring after I saw that ONVIF cameras could integrate with it. Some of the early reviewers experienced issues and I haven't seen any recent ones.

I wish I had found your channel earlier. It was with your reviews that I settled on a Reolink system for my home. I actually need advice. I have 5 small restaurants and the systems are all hikvision NVRs and Cameras. 3 are Coax and 2 Ethernet. I absolutely hate the NVR interface as well as the App. They constantly go down and have issues. Any recommendations on leaving the cameras and only changing the NVRs to a different system. I love the Reolink app.

Has anybody ordered Annke N88PCH NVR.
I ordered it from Annke but i got it in plain brown box with no user manual or product box. There are some hikvision cameras pre configured in it and there is no Annke vision so I am wondering if that is how it supposed to be.
I have talked with their customer service but they are telling me the NVR must have been tested in factory before I received but I feel like, they are lying.

For a commercial what cameras and NVR do you recommend. For a client, I got Lorex which has P2P but now I'm thinking if I did the right decision. I now have another client, but I'm looking for other solutions.

if the reolink nvr has only 8 poe port? can i used an external poe and have 20 cameras on the poe switch and use a single cat6 connected to the nvr and still view my 20 cameras?

Why no WI-FI option for REOLINK NVR? As I want to use solar (battery) 4K Reolink cameras in my rural property, using cables to all cameras is a terrible option for me

Blue Iris sounds like the best option for me. As I have a bunch of rack mounted servers laying around, a empty 48 port POE and a 6KVA UPS. So this would cost be about $80 for the software and the cameras..

What do you think about Anpviz security systems are they worth buying?

You mentioned synology does not have a P2P feature. I believe it actually does using their quick connect service, which works flawlessly with surveillance station also. I have used quick connect with port forwarding off, and even behind a CGNAT situation and it still works, which indicates it is possibly not using port forwarding

If you're tech-savvy (or know and trust someone who is) I'd recommend you use Blue Iris with VPN access. My setup uses Blue Iris on a Dell OptiPlex 3080 equipped with an Intel Core i9-10900 Processor, 64GB RAM, with a 512GB SSD and 24TB HDD in RAID.

Also suggest: cloudflare zero trust tunnel. Best of all worlds and free

Which hardwired POE+, NVR is less proprietary to other MFG cameras? I need to find a solution for 16 Cameras. or use other mfgrs flood light Dual lens / rotating 90 deg up down....180 deg rotate AI patrol tracking.

I paid $250 for an Amcrwst NVR and it's always "over decode ability" and I only have 3 cameras...trash

I was really hoping you were going to review qnaps qvr pro. I think it's great if you already have one. I have one and it came with 8 channels for free. I just haven't started buying cameras to use it. But... I have seen use cases using more than 70 cameras backing up around 190 days of recordings

ANNKE does not have FTP support to backup video recordings! it's useless

I have the ANNKE N88PCH 4K 8 channel but I find the fans are very noisy. Did you experience the same with the ANNKE N96PBD ? Is there a way to quieten it down ?
