It better still be good enough. I'm handing down my rig to my God Daughter and it's got to run Stardew valley like a beast! "I need frames for this farming sim!" lol. Run games on Yuzu well too.

Love my 1660-Ti. Eventually I'll get something that can do all the modern RTX stuff (not a 3050!) but every time I say "should I?" I think "nah, this card is still good for another year...".

Bought the card 4 years ago, completed over 100 games during those years.

Honestly, new GPUs are tempting. But considering the 9400f, 550 W and 4 years old motherboard that I have at the moment, a non-bottleneck upgrade would cost me the same as buying new cpu. Beside that, look at the graphic of AAA games, small detail improvement for costly upgrade.

Between these 2 cards, its better to save even more money and go with a 1660 super. I used one for a while before upgrading to my current 6700xt.

Strangely, the 1660s are currently sold for more than half the 3050s where i live. And considering the latter is virtually always better, the choice is quite obvious!

[Little PSA/rant]
Unfortunately the 3050 just refuses to budge in price, so cards like the RX 6600 will continue to be better a investment overall. At the time of writing, the 3050 is still (laughably) over $200 MSRP (cheapest I was able to find was a PNY model for around $230) whereas the XFX SWFT210 RX 6600 is $220 -- often going for even cheaper than that. It's literally no contest, seeing as the 6600 can deliver equal/better performance than a 2060 Super and the 3050 just barely manages to edge ahead of the 1660 Ti. And that sort of gap isn't something DLSS can fix either. Once the 7600 falls below the $250 mark, it'll be the new go-to for entry level PCs. Personally I think the RX 6700 is worth considering too, as it can often be found for that price as well & performs around the same as the 7600 on paper (with the added bonus of 10GB of VRAM). Other than that, second hand 3060 Tis are now beginning to reach that same price range ($240-260) and can be looked at as the "DLSS-equipped" equal to the 6700 XT -- with the only deficit being 8GB of VRAM vs 12GB. But at $280-300, the 6700 XT proves to be a pretty compelling option in its own right. My only advice would be to not overthink whether or not 8GB of VRAM is "enough" -- it is, and will continue to be as long as the majority of "affordable" GPUs continue to have 8GB of VRAM. "Ultra" settings are a scam; outside of texture quality you don't NEED to have everything else maxed out for a game to look nice. So don't overspend on a card out of FUD, get something that will suit YOUR needs and YOUR budget. Side note: Not super familiar with Arc cards, but the A750 & A770 are also not insanely overpriced and seem to offer good performance for the money (with newer games, anyway). I wouldn't necessarily get one if you tend to play a lot games on older engines/APIs. Drivers have improved things substantially, but Intel is still working out some of the kinks so to speak. I do have my eye on Battlemage/gen 2 Arc though, interested to see how those stack up vs midrange RDNA 3.

3050 is not bad card...
...But ONLY, if You find this in good price (2nd hand)

I've got Asus Dual, OC version, 2nd hand bought in Cex for 160 quid

+ Small form factor
+ Low power usage
+ Quiet
+ Cool
+ Build on same architecture like bigger 30xx models
+ 8Pin connector instead Nvidia's 12V
+ Pcie gen.4
+ Resizeable bar
- Only 8 lanes of Pcie, so avoid it at older, unsupported platforms
- RT is poor, very poor (not recommended)

Performance is 80% of GTX 1080 (non ti), but less frame drops, so gaming feels better.

i'm so concerned with pc part temps. if 1660 is generating that much heat. i would go for 3050. anything that heats up eventually degrades and the hotter ones will degrade faster. also in my country, 3050 is just 2 dollars more than 1660ti.

The 1660 super or ti was an amazing card. I picked mine up last year for $120 and was blown away at how well it held up even against modern cards.

There wasn't a single game I couldn't get 60-90 fps and even some 1440p gaming. The only thing that got me nervous was 6gb of vram.

I had a 1660ti laptop that ended up lasting me way longer than I thought it would. At least it allowed me to skip the 2000 series and go a 3070ti laptop. Unfortunately, I'm afraid the 8gb of vram in my 3070ti laptop won't last me nearly as long as the 1660ti one did. I literally bought my laptop a few months before games started coming out where 8GB of vram isn't enough for 1440p gaming. At this point I'm considering getting a console which I haven't had since the first Playstation. Don't have enough time to game to bother with investing in building a PC. Laptop gaming was a nice compromise, but it seems like Nvidia is set on making that not worth the money I'd have to spend on a good laptop in the future.

I have a Acer OEM 1660ti in my Travel Mini ITX PC
Put a Cpu Cooler on it and flashed a Bios with slightly higher Powerlimit
With undervolt Curve it can clock up to 2100mhz and more than +1000mhz on the Memory
Are you sure your clocks arent Limited by Powerlimt here?Because you could easily have higher Clocks with like 0.900v/1900-2000mhz at least

Good video, lots of information, would definitely go get 6600 if I had to choose between both :D However in this video and in your other video where you compare against 1080 GTX you never mention (or I never hear) the temperature difference. So in this video you've got 8 games and for each and every one the temp difference is 20 degrees C !! That is quite a lot and it is quite important to be aware of that. As I am writing this I am lookin at the RDR2 stats and I see 3050, 63 degrees - 1660ti, 82 degrees. Even the CPU temps are higher with the older cards :) Since most gamers keep their cards for 3-4 yrs, 20 degrees difference for that amount of time is quite important to notice.

(i only got into PC hardware about 2-3 years ago) but GOD that bug bit me hard i want ALL the gpus lol.

I love how my GTX 1650 super is still good, but modern games that don't offer ANYTHING NEW except more players who lag the game/hack the game out & CTD's as far as the eye can see.

Seriously, Modern games from after 2019, just suck & run like shet, because 4K textures & the fact that none of these games can't compress their file sizes because these companies think we just have 100TB SSD or HDD laying around.

The only thing that 3050 slaughters 1660ti at is temperature.. both this models have very bad coolers but at least the rtx will have less degradation possibilities and failures due to much lower temps.
😂Everyone is shocked at the 60ti for its similar to lower power but nobody's talking about how impressive is the 50 card for working at low 60s temp
