I think GS is mainly for road rides. It cant perform that well in other situations that, for long unforgetable journeys, you will face. At this point, if you ride mainly on the asphalt, buy a gold wing.
Africa twin is the winner for adventure. No doubts about it

For Honda owners: a question, probably are you ENVIES OF GS? I think so.

I’ve just been through all the comments and here is my opinion.

Gs is sold the most, that is because most people buying them are over 50’s.
1. They are mainly the people who can afford them
2. They require the comfort
3. They use them for touring as they have the time.
4. They are buying them new and this have the warranty and couldn’t be bothered with the u reliability, especially now that they have 5 year warranty in South Africa.

I think that the 2014+ GS was the most beautiful bike ever, I really think they ruined the 1250, BUT I just bought a African Twin DCT and think that it’s the most beautiful bike in the tri colour.

I want to do off road even though I am inexperienced and thus think that it’s the best match.

I think people make too much of a thing about what’s the best and don’t enjoy the point of being on a motorcycle and having the wind hit you in the face

$30000 for the base GSA. Then add big bucks for bags etc. Sorry too friggin expensive. There is no tubes in AT.

I have chosen the BMW and I’ve driven both . The AT is a splendid bike , don’t get me wrong but the GS is a better road motorcycle, and this is where both will be used more. Also the electronics on the GS are much more refined than on the Honda, particularly on safety aspects . Yes the Honda is a better off road machine , but probably on that department (and also on many others, including price) it should be compared with the BMW F850GS Adventure ... again, don’t get me wrong : the AT is a splendid choice and I believe who chose one after driving the GS won’t be disappointed because they have a different orientation and slight different target.

I chose gs, because i do tarmac 99% of the time. On the road there is no story, the bmw has a gear more.
