Home Theater Dolby Atmos Speaker Setup, Configuration and Explanation of 5.1.2, 5.1.4, and 7.1.4

Hello Youthman,
I am seeking for experience of 5.1.4 setup with, "2 Front Height + 2 Top Middle". Unfortunately I am unable to put anything behind the MLP due to the skew attic ceiling of the roof. The 2 Top Middle is slightly in front (~50 cm) of my MLP, and the 2 Front Height is a no brainer above my fronts. The ceiling is 268 cm height.
Is it worth it for Atmos, or should I stick to only 5.1.2 (with 2 Top Middle)?

I am waiting on polk audio xt90 to put on my ceiling. I have been using mordant short mezzo range. Got 5.1 with the mezzo 2's as surrounds and for front heights too. I got the Sony str dn1080. I can only add 1 pair of atmos speakers. But tbh my room is not huge so it is adequate for me. Maybe you won't know but maybe I am doing the wrong thing y mixing these budget polk audio speakers with these mezzo range ones. It already sounds great but I want to be able to put speakers on my ceiling as I am positive it will be even more immersive that way. But not even got the polk audio ones and wonder if this is a bad move. It is just I think the placement will be better. Also heard something about you don't want lower frequency on the as rmoa speakers as lower frequency will affect how clear you hear where the sound is coming from. I am not sure but at least it's not set in stone. I can only try it and if I don't like it, I can just put it back the way it is at present. I don't have loads of money but for me at the time my speakers and sub cost just under £270,000. Which was about as much as I could spend on a speaker set up at that time. For me it is a lot of money but given size of my room it was probably ideal anyway and those speakers have done me for a long time. Not planning to upgrade any time soon. When I bought those speakers my av receiver at the time did not have atmos. So the situation was I wanted atmos but didn't feel like upgrading my speaker set up again, as I love the look and sound of them and had been wanting them for a while before I finally got them, so upgrading the lot even now for me is out of the question. But wanting to get my atmos to sound better as so far from what I heard I am very impressed. Literally adds another dimension to the sound.
P. S. Again. Got to mention I live in a semi detached house. Fortunately my only direct neighbours house is not joined onto my main room but the bedrooms upstairs join on through the wall from each other downstairs is not as it has what's called a pend between the houses. Which is why I wanted this house as at least my neighbour is not directly through the wall from my main room. All this said I am still limited in a way to what I can do here sound wise anyway. So far so good, been here 8 years.

I just bought this Klipsch 5.0.2 kit and (2) 12" klipsch subwoofer. What receiver should I get.

Is it okay to connect this Acoustic Audio speakers with my AVR, will it be compatible. It has more wattage but the size of the drive is just 3inches.

To be clear the .1 is the LFE channel. And yes it is reproduced by the sub. That same subwoofer may also reproduce the low frequencies of other channels which might be set to “small” in the processor. If two subs are utilized it is NOT to be referred to as a 5.2 or 7.2. The .1 only references the LFE channel as specified by Dolby and DTS.

Most Dolby Atmos discs are awful downscales. Like on Mad Max. Yuck.

Thanks Youthman, I'm about to upgrade my home theather from 7.1 to 5.1.4 or 7.1.4. I just ordered my Pre Pro Marantz AV 7706/ 3 Outlaws 2200,O utlaw 7000x and 5000. I have 5 polk audio RTI and 6 polk audio monitor speakers 2 polk audio pws 505 and an 404 10. LG 77" C1. When I hooked up my C1 to my old Pioneer SC05 with both amps 5000 and 7000X My front left and center output blow out. I did use Y connectors to Bi amp my front stage. So now hopefully my new gear won't blow up like my old receiver did. Keep up your great work and thanks always. I found your channel from Tecno Dad. Shout out.

Planing to install Dolby in my newly constructed house

Center speaker- Q acoustic 3090i
FL and FR- Q acoustic 3020i
SL and SR as well as atmos- micca M8C/M6C (ceiling mounted only)- please suggest 6in or 8in preferable with this combination

Why too much?

Bla bla Klipsch Klipsch Klipsch, to many commercials. There is much better speakers than this brand on market and cheaper. All this Atmos reflecting speakers and THX is gimmick exactly. Even the way you make commercials of 114db at 1m, is totally just promotion from sells point. It's not human language 114 @ 1m, its technical bullshit, which means you can get maximum only if you stick your face in to the speaker. One of the biggest bullshit promotions i heard and you just repeated it. You can hear Rain Drops falling? I guess you have super hearing, or non human ears. You cannot hear raind drops falling, you can only hear the point of drops impact. Which can be on the trees or roof up top. You cannot hear rain comming down from Above. It's uniform noise. Atmos just adds height environmental picture pretty much, no one would bother making separate audio of such a detail just for atmos, that will make separate channels for rain drops.

I have dolby Atmos but it's garbage. I was stupid and bought a damson speaker side on Amazon prime day the speaker set normally goes for 799 I got it for 499. The Base is almost nonexistent the atmos is barely noticeable and the mids are a little bit muffled. If you do it do it right.

Hey Youthman. Thanks for the video, awesome stuff. Just have a quick ?. I'm starting off my HT and want to know how bad an idea is it to use the R51's as L/R along with the RP 500C. Once the budget allows im looking at the RP 5000 or RP 6000. I'm going to be getting a Denon X1600H. Are there any videos you have done perhaps on mixing the two lines? Both are 5 inch so I'm hoping it won't be a trainsmash. Thanks, Suveer

Im currently running 7.1 ch Klipsch speakers. And prefer not to cut hole from my ceiling, how bad really for atmos speakers firing upward compared to the ceiling atmos speakers?

Hi YM! Happy Thanks giving here in Canada! I window shop today and saw a Klipsch R-41SA DAtmos speakers. my AVR is 7.2 channel and currently have 5.1 set-up. Can I just place these speakers on top of my front bookshelfs (in lieau of back surrounds) -- How should i set those up in my Denon (S960H)? Thank you!

Hi I have a Klipsch RP 8000 Towers and the klipsch SW120 subwoofer and a JBL 10" Downfiring subwoofer. is it okay to build cabinets to make it neater. Will there be an impact in the sound when you put your towers to a cabinet and the subwoofers to a cabinet. Appreciate your guidance and comments. Thank you.

Atmos modules is the worst thing anyone can add to their system.

Can a atmos abled 5.1 channel blue ray player like sony bupx700 produce atmos 5.1.4 effect if put through a 9.1 av receiver ?

I have yet to stumble onto a video explaining how to setup an atmos system and not just have a system see it as 7.1.1 ( I know that atmos will not engage unless there is an atmos signal) or if the side surrounds actually need to be up-firing design (if you have seen a definitive video pleas link it to me)

Hello Youthman. Thank you for providing all these informative videos. We haveived to Dolby Atmos, but what about center speaker placement? Does positioning make a difference (i.e. horizontal vs. vertical)?

Well I have a a dolby Atmos receiver But I Do have some Dolby Atmos Enabled movies as well as a couple of video games That have Dolby Atmos Sound Technology In Them. But Sense I do not have the Speaker Setup for it though. I have not had the opportunity to Listen to a Full Dolby Atmos Setup

I have a question Youth Man. I was wondering you had $2,500 for one sub or dual sub he won't. Which sub would you get? SVS or jtr? What year did I have rf-62 Towers RS 42 surrounds . and sa140 Dolby Atmos speakers. Rc62 ii Center channel and Klipsch Reference R-112SW sub. And I have a Marantz 6012 receiver. Enjoyed your video. You got me itching to upgrade to Dolby Atmos. I am currently running 7.2 with Chane speakers, SVS and Dayton Audio Ultimax 18 subs. My receiver is acted as pre-amp for my QSC DCA 1644 amps.
