my guy could have easily finished the fight 3x faster if he just hit the helm once or twice so the flagship wouldn't dodge 80% of the flak shots

Just finished a run with flak, stun cannon, FIRE RAY and two combat drones. Taken up hacking in the last stand too. Fights end before my shield depletes

2 Flak MK 2s is all you need. A lot rarer, easiest fight ever

7 years late, but this run was cheated. It's virtually impossible to have those fuel, ammo, and drone totals ever, nevermind alongside a successful/expensive build.

More Dakka is the way to go when I play FTL.
Though preference has always been to go 4x Burst Laser Mark II, because you have better ability to aim at shields/weapons.

One of the easiest yet most effective builds…

He put way too much into engines. Only do half that and put a drone bay there. You can heal 2 bars for free every fight(with drone recycler arm), and you can get nice utility. On advanced mode, also get the EMP drone thing.

I've never finished FTL despite spending tens of hours playing. Great game but I can never defeat the capitol ship lol
