Great video overall but magnetic field is strongest nearest the poles (greatest flux density) not in the "middle" of the field as shown. Its as the closely-packed field lines intersect (in motion) the coil in (highest rate of change of flux) that the maximum AC is induced.

This is so much better and easier to understand than any technical manual, or Wikipedia for that matter. The generator diagram at the beginning is the most important part of understanding the principal of the phases. Well done video.

If you have a 600 MW generator, how do run it at different loads (say 300 MW or 500 MW) and keep the frequency at 50 Hz? And does the frequency need to sync with the grid frequency--presumably yes?

Was hoping for some 3 phase motor tips, like how to create your own 3 phase power with an old functioning 3 phase motor a good single phase motor a couple of pulleys and some wires

It isn't the power that makes three-phase compelling. It's the reduced current caused by balancing the phases. This means you don't need as much copper. That saves a lot of money.

I was gonna ask if a computer also invisibly flickers like a lamp, but then realized the power supply turns it into DC 😬

(Sounded a bit odd for a computer to turn on & off 50/60times per second 😂)

Interesting video. The real 2-phase generators set the phase angle at 90° they obviously didn't think about the third phase. A housing estate in Wales has just been constructed with every house having a 3-phase system installed. It's supposed to be in preparation for things such as EV charging. It does raise the possibility of a homeowner using extension cables from different phases and having an accident which could be very serious involving much higher than normal domestic voltage and current.

I think you said that 3 phase motors would run faster, surely the speed of the motor is determined by the frequency and the number of poles the motor has, not necessarily that it is running on 3 phase electricity?

Hi Paul, great graphics and all. I would ask that you change the video so that the maximum Voltage is created when the face of the magnet crosses the coil face. This is where the maximum lines of flux cut the coil. E=BlV and all.
When the side of the magnet is parallel to the coil, the lines of flux are not cutting the coil, they are parallel and such will not create any voltage. Cheers ~ love all the videos, have bought you a cup of coffee and will buy you more!

It’s not really the speed of the electrons that fluctuates in sine fashion. It is the amperage, is it not?.

Ответить
@mohsenmesbah6181
@mohsenmesbah6181 - 06.10.2023 13:39

woth equal resistive loads on each phase, the total power delivered is always constant. I did not fully get what you meant by 3 phase is a good compromise. i. e. if the lamps are only resistve and equal loads the total power delivered to the at each moment in time is constant.
