Northeast Ohioan here. I wouldn’t trade my region for any other region in the country. Not moving anywhere, never will. We have the best of all worlds this country has to offer, in one state.

The reason people have moved out of Illinois is due to liberal policies causing hardships on families. They are all moving to red states.

I have been interested and researching the areas around "The Great Lakes", as well as "The Rust Belt" and also
"The Appalachian Mountains" as they are all somewhat "connected" by geography in some cases, but mainly by
economic & industrial developments, many of those developments "engineered disasters "industry, factory,
mining, and manufacturing plant closures" - the scenario repeated in those three areas. In some instances,
there can be places that can be identified as all 3 at the same time, maybe in and around Ohio & Pennsylvania,
and other places that are close. In this scenario, it's possible for them to work together, to achieve better results,
in particular - JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, that's the main "criteria" in these economic downturns, with the factory closures,
manufacturing shutdowns, mining ramping down - extremely crucial to their respective communities, losing those
high-paying jobs, is catastrophic for the small-medium cities and towns, and nearly impossible to fix immediately,
they need to find NEW START-UPS, with minimal outlay or expenditures, with the "locals" always supporting them.

Often the start-ups are only small-scale, and a little "experimental", a little "speculative", starting with small investments,
finding "like-minded people", often or usually in a [CO-OP] and sharing the "financial outlay" so as no one person risks
too much, and the "many minds working together finding results", and "the many hands make light work", all these are
just some of the benefits of being inside a [CO-OP] as well as the tough times leaving you "short" - the CO-OPS finding
cheaper prices for goods, foodstuffs, building supply's, etc. THERE ARE NUMEROUS BENEFITS OF "WORKING TOGETHER"

I have noticed something of very serious and worrying nature, about the "economic engineered depression" in those
places mentioned, it reeks of MANIPULATIONS, as people are basically being pushed-out or forced-out of their states,
out of their homelands, where their families might have been for a century or more (perhaps 100-300 years) YOU KNOW
WHAT I SAY - HOLD YOUR GROUND, don't move, don't sell especially, don't sell your land, or your home, if it's in a nice area,
even if the area has been "run-down" that's nothing, these cunts engineer these events, run a place down, and then later,
the puppets "revamp it", "spruce it up", "glamorize it", "refurbish it", and build the infrastructure needed, bringing jobs,
with big jobs, comes big employee rosters, usually government, taxpayer funded, or sometimes private investors, all this
has been "planned beforehand" - FIRST FUCK-THE-PLACE-UP, THROUGH SHUTDOWNS, RECESSIONS, PLANT CLOSURES,
EVERY JOB IN A BIG FACTORY, FOUNDRY, MINE OR MILL, HAS 6 OR 7 JOBS ATTACHED TO THEM THROUGH AUXILIARY
JOBS, LIKE TRANSPORT, PUBS, CLUBS, RESTAURANTS, CAFES, SERVICES, ETC. SO THE LOSS OF THE "BIG EMPLOYER"
IN TOWN IS CATASTROPHIC FOR EVERYONE IN TOWN. SO LONG AFTER, THE TOWN, OR CiTy IS SPIRALING DOWNWARDS,
THE BIG BANANAS, START THE BALL ROLLING, AFTER THEY HAVE ACCUMULATED MOST OF THE ASSETS, AND TITLES,
THE REAL ESTATE, AND THE POLITICAL POWER, THEY THEN STICK-OUT THEIR HANDS, AND COP THE BRIBES, KICK-BACKS,
AND HAND-OUTS, THEY DOUBLE-DIPPING LIKE CRAZY, MAYBE TRIP-DIPS ON THE CARDS, 1. PAY 2. BRIBES 3. JOBS.

LAST WORD: FOR ALL THE GOOD PEOPLE, THE GOOD FOLK, & THE GOOD HILLBILLY'S OF THE APPALACHIA'S AS WELL,
THE 3 "AREAS" MENTIONED, 1."THE G.L'S", 2. "THE R.B" 3. "THE A.M" (not to be confused with the American Midwest)
THERE ARE SOME VERY SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE MYSTERIOUS SHUTDOWNS & CLOSURES.
I SINCERELY THINK THAT (((THEY))) THE FJ PARASITES, HAVE PROMISED LARGE SWATHES OF THOSE 3 AREAS,
IN PARTICULAR, THE RUST BELT AND GREAT LAKES, THE APPALACHIANS, I THINK THEY WANT FOR THEMSELVES.
THEY HAVE PROMISED LARGE SWATHES OF THE GREAT LAKES & RUST BELT ......TO THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY.

LISTEN, THAT I'M ABSOLUTELY SURE ON THIS, THAT'S WHY SO MANY INDUSTRIES HAVE SHUT AND MOVED, WHY NO
INVESTMENTS ARE COMING-IN, EITHER GOVERNMENT OR PRIVATE, THEY PLAN ON RAMPING-UP "TANKMAN STYLE"
WITH OLD "BOOM-TOWNS" LIKE GARY, INDIANA - FLOODED WITH CCP PUPPETALIA, THEY LATER CALLING IT OTHER
NAMES, LIKE "NEW GARY", OR "NEW PEKING", OR "NEW WUHAN" OR JUST PLAIN OLD "EAST CHICAGO", ONLY 40 KMS
FROM CHICAGO, NESTLED BETWEEN LARGE NATIONAL PARKS, AND THE GREAT LAKE FORESHORES, WITH A MODERN
SPANKING NEW 2ND CHICAGO AIRPORT+HSR, THE PLACE IS ROCKING AGAIN. THIS IS THE BOOM-BUST-BOOM-PLOTS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IF YOU HAVE A HOUSE IN GARY, DON'T SELL FOR PEANUTS, EVEN IF YOU'RE WORKING AWAY, HOLD-ON TILL THE PLOT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is propaganda. It is not settled science that AGW is the primary cause of climate change. It is a convenient scare tactic to increase the size and scope of government and transfer wealth. Do we need to find ways to be clean and conserve? yes. Are we facing global catastrophe? No.

Grew up in Michigan, left at 18, LOVING it in Colorado 🫶 People I know who stayed behind still live where we grew up 😬 Those of us who left have advanced degrees and wide worldviews.

Those who still live back in Michigan seem to be largely unhappy, and struggling to find more than a basic, low-income job.

Leaving was the best thing I've done by far.

Unions are very much to blame. It started with. Auto industry started moving to right to work states then when unions intruded there off shore. Once there is no industry no one wants to stay in a cold grey area, plus the invention of air conditioning the south is more appealing place to live especially throughout winter months. You can thank your leaders that I’m sure you support unquestionable for gutting our industry via NFTA

Your climate change argument is more about the sun than what I’m sure you think is C02. Our lakes are evaporating quickly I get UV readings 5 points higher than forecast. Climate changes it always has always will. Government spending won’t change it either but if you think it will you should pay more tax so I don’t have to

Its amazing how common these claims are that storms are becoming more frequent and more destructive. Randall Carlson has shown study after study proving this to be total codswollop. Is the climate changing- yeah! It is ALWAYS in a state of flux. Should we continue to burn oil indefinitely? Obviously NOT. But there is a serious lack of real scientific data, as well as common sense, to support the "green" movement's push to scare the world into political compliance.
The reason people are leaving the big cities in America are because the majority of people with a desk job can work at home now and therefor aren't forced to live in these cest pools of corruption. People are awakening slowly but surely, and there is no force on this planet that can stop the wave of enlightenment that's about to come crashing down on the powers that be. You can see them all grasping at straws right now because they are scared. Scared losing the power that the internet is putting into the hands of the people. Exciting times! Im glad I live in INDIANA!

This is just a superficial explanation. For example much of the Great Lakes cities population losses were due to next generations of people moving to the suburban and rural areas where lots development occurred. The cities did loose the manufacturing jobs which were the main source of pollution but have been able to clean up as a result. There is much more to this story but climate change will apply pressure everywhere too.

@suezzle

Lol, climate change. That's just flat out Wrong, sorry - that is absolutely Not a pull-factor to people considering moving back to Michigan, lol. The truth is that - like you accurately assessed about the region's past - The Rustbelt Region over-extended its dependence on Crude manufacturing jobs. This worked beautifully for decades, but as early as the late 70's, 80's and beyond - as America's ever-growing standards of living began to peak while simultaneously the rest of the world became more globally-competitive and offered an abundance of cheap and unregulated labor with minimal [very costly, idealistic] safety and environmental and legal regulation compliance measures and penalties, the once-crude/now-costly manufacturing industry in America became less and less competitive. The internet and improvements in communications and logistics only applied this. Then, to add salt to the wounds, the extremely-strong unions in manufacturing industries became their own worst enemies as they shot themselves in the foot by demanding more and more and more (pay, benefits, work conditions, rights, etc) while conversely global competitors who has fewer and fewer and fewer restrictions and costs became ever-aplenty. It became a downward spiral, as management Kelly sending more jobs overseas, which made the unions fight harder [unwilling to yield an inch] to preserve high-paying jobs and work standards and rights in the US. Something had to give, but nothing did -- except, as a result, jobs. Jobs gave. From the Midwest US to Anywhere Cheaper (overseas).

Now.... That Being Said. The damage has largely already been done, with economies of whole regions devastated for decades now (not just manufacturing industries, but raw material and improved material producers and suppliers, as well as service industries for the areas). Most of the most-devastating blows have already been dealt and/or anticipated. For years.

Got the last couple decades, serve come to the realization that crude manufacturing is NOT a sustainable model. And whole state and regional efforts have been put in place and have begun to be implemented to retool and reinvent the region into new when markets. EV design and development, finance, general commercial and business, and even a renewed focus on agriculture - just to make a few.
I believe an equilibrium has largely been reached, and natives and onlookers alike have realized that this region has largely been through the worst and has a brother future ahead.
And THAT is why there's been a renewed population growth in the Rustbelt Region of America. Nothing to do with climate change. I'm sorry My Friend, but that was some hilariously-creative imagination on your part, that has no factual basis. Guesses and assumptions perhaps, based on debatedly-flawed modeling provided by scientific communities who have decades-long track records of wildly-inaccurate doom-and-gloom climate-paranoia fear-mongering forecasts. But not in fact, my friend. Not anecdotally, and not statistically.

Stay grounded, stay real.
Take care!
