You ever test out Eero WiFi ?

Here is my issue with Matter/Thread devices. When WiFi/internet goes out, my hub goes down. And matter/thread devices stop working.

As for bringing things into homekit I would add one more thing. If you are using Unifi Protect, use Home Bridge for that, then you get Homekit Sec Video.

There is no way in hell the industry is headed toward home assistant. It’s way too complicated to ever be a widely used product. It will have its niche for now with people willing to put up with the pain in the ass it is to use. But I would never recommend it if someone asked, unless they were a total tech nut. If you are asking if you need it you don’t. You’ll know when you need to move it to it.

Eric, thank you for taking the time to answer my question about integrating items into Home Kit. I will look into and probably give Home Assistant a try. Sorry I wasn’t able to answer during the live stream, I was at work at the time and was able to get my question asked but wasn’t able to stick around to listen to your answer live. Jonny Ive has joined Sam Altman and they are reportedly working on a secret product or device, it’s been reported that Steve Jobs widow has given her support to them. I hope this endeavor has a better outcome than the ill conceived and execution of the failed AI PIN, I can’t believe investors poured money into this project without proof of concept along the way, it’s like they just handed Jonny a blank check and waited on the humongous expected windfall that never arrived. Jonny had to know that this project wasn’t ready for prime time and couldn’t deliver the promised technological advancements that were touted and promised, yet he released it anyway. MKBHD obliterated it with one review and others similarly reported its failings. The backers/ investors looked like amateurs that didn’t do their due diligence and were subsequently left holding an empty bag instead of a pot full of gold. I hope this next endeavor is thoroughly researched, designed, executed, tested, and lives up to expectations.

I’m don’t subscribe to membership programs, if I had a membership for every YTCC who has content that I’m interested in, I would be working for them and handing over half my paycheck to them, in this economy, day, and time, I’ll keep my money in my pocket to take care of me and mine, on extremely rare occasions, a minimal superchat maybe but, not a given, especially when the membership starts at $4.99/month with no $10 discount for paying yearly and no $1.99/month option , not that that would change my mind, but shout out to those that can afford to do it
