The disgusting part of the western media is their obsession to display Kenya and Africa as poor. They couldn't go film runda,Livingston, kileleshwa, Karen or showcase the iconic buildings in Kenya. They forget to show the KICC building, The national archives, CBD, etc.Biased western media.

This should have been called 'Everyday life in Kangemi' because it's s not the whole truth about life in Nairobi. I wish you sampled different people, social classes and parts of the city.

Please don’t believe everyone is suffering like this in Africa. I don’t like it when they do all the nonsense documentaries showing the poor sides always but in their country they will show the beautiful side.

I'm a bit concerned about the language translations that BBC has chosen to not translate. Some of the words stated in Swahili completes the thought process and allows that audience to understand that Kenyans are intelligent thinking people. Its a problem across all western Media houses. Very unfortunate.

I wish the government would support these people working hard. Create jobs so they can earn. Start exporting, Kenya is a very rich land in terms of natural resources but also rich in it's human resources. The people can generally speak English. They need to provide investment havens for outside companies for call centres etc.

I wish for countries like mine and Kenya to actually get governments that care about their country and it's people. Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰 ♥ 🇰🇪

This is an anti-African sentiment, You international media groups show news and documentaries of the dark side of the African continent, why should you say that rain results in power cuts? and in addition that bridge in Kangemi was brought down to expand the road.

I wish DW News can also post the full 2015 documentary. The link that was there on their website is broken. This is a great documentary and an excellent initiative. The stagnation in the lives of our people is a stinging indictment of our corrupt government.

I was a volunteer in Kenya 7 years ago. I really miss the passion, hope and spirit of the all the amazing Kenyans I had the pleasure to meet.

One of the most fun moments I had was a young child at my volunteer school teaching me Sheng xD I could tell he was having a ton of fun, as was I.

It was so inspiring the see the incredible drive and desire from young Kenyans, whether it was children or university students, to educate themselves and make their country a better place. It inspired me greatly, being just a young college student on an exchange program from Canada.

I am truly grateful to Kenya and all it's lovely people who welcomed me with warmth and kindness.

I hope to be back soon after the pandemic is over to meet old friends, and to hopefully do something that can help Kenyans without the means to educate themselves.

i have live in Kangemi (street language We Call it "Ungem" ) life is hard there, from buying water 20 litre jerrican goes for ksh 5 when you carry for yourself and ksh 10 when you hire someone. fire is another issue as the one you filmed. that location goes by the name "shanty". rent is so high that ordinary people can't afford. for instance a one room "sinlge room" as it is known goes for ksh 5000, studio apartment commonly known as "bedsitter" goes for ksh 8000. ordinary people, commonly known as "sufferers" can not afford so we opt for the ones made of iron sheet "mabati" which goes for ksh 2500 - 4000 depending on the size. earth is hard.
