Is there a way to compress video while preserving its metadata?

I am a pro wedding event videographer editor, something went wrong with my down loader and somehow each video clip only would download in 4k I Guess because the files were ultra huge anyhow I Had to reduce it FAST and Kevin you saved the day for me & got stress relief in the situation, this program you told me about FORCED it to the right side even though my system had that glitch, it didn't work at first but after downloading a windows driver that suports it it was perfect, you know what your doing there Kevin Thank you Sir.

I just tried to upload my vid to a Singles Site (don't judge me :-), and instead of accepting my .webM vid a common modern standard) of 11mb, they only accepted .mov (or similar)??? In 2023, that's ridiculous! So...its off to do as you say with Handbrake! Thank you so much @Kevin. I really want to know the exact setting that reduces the size. I always encode most of movies so I can watch them via USB on Samsung TV but I noticed that when I select the H.264, I usually don't know what else to select and this ends up making a larger file. So is it by making the encoder setting very slow that I can reduce the size? Thanks again

I want to reduce the size of a wedding video so i can use a USB, fat32 is the best format option what would be the best settings H 264 would be the the best option for the codec would you agree for compatibility Thank You Kevin

Excellent, clear explanation. Saved me a whole load of work as my client wanted 29 x 1080p videos scaled down in size to 720p. Bulk edited them adding them to the queue, then hit start. Job Done. Thank you.

So I've been using Handbrake for only a year or 2 (I believe this video was one of the first to tell me about it!). But I randomly stumbled on a questionable situation:

I had 2 videos of a concert that I compressed with the exact same quality settings, from the same render settings in DaVinci. But the ~2nd SMALLER clip~ I got, was compressing to a much LARGER file, compared to the compression of the ~1st clip (original was larger)~
The first clip was longer in duration/larger in size, and I forgot to turn my "LOG" picture profile on in my Sony FX30. It was originally 14+ gigs, and gets converted to 300+ mb, which was beyond perfect giving the settings & quality.
But the 2nd video I compressed (9 gigs original, and shorter in duration), I did turn my "LOG" PP on in my camera, but this video gets compressed to 1.7 gigs....with the exact same compression/quality settings? Is it normal for videos shot in LOG, to I guess not get compressed as much as a video with standard picture settings at the time the video is taken?

The program has been a BEAST for me so far, but I'm still getting tripped up a lot...

seems helpful but every time i click handbrake after downloading it tells me to download an additional program and when its done downloading, it doesnt recognize i have downloaded it and just makes me download it again. anyone else run into a similar problem?

what I don't understand and is that, how the fuck yourecord on your phone for like 30 seconds and it's already 140 MB, but then blu ray movies that are fucking 2 hours only have a 1gb size and even 600mb for movies that are 720p the fuck that's retarded.

A lot of content creators and oneline sources point to Handbrake as the ultimate video compressor, so it's an easy and safe recommend. I just want to know if you can encode multiple videos at the same time. It seems that I can't.

thank you for the video. i downloaded and installed HandBrake. but after clicking on the desktop shortcut nothing happens. wheel spinning for a second and thats all. I tried restarting, also tried uninstalling and installing again. no luck. i'm on pc. what am i doing wrong?

Oh, you're absolutely going to lose video quality when you compress a video, no doubt about it.
