Don't worry about the people giving you grief for changing plans on the drivetrain. The new choice is way more doable and will get the project moving forward so that it will actually hit the road sooner rather than later (or never).
ОтветитьLove this build I only just found it even though I’ve seen loads of your barn find Vlogs. I do like an Allegro and Sleeper cars so totally agree with what you have done here, even though I drive a factory Moggy minor
ОтветитьThis is my favourite channel
ОтветитьK20 all the way
ОтветитьI want this car to actually be finished😂😂😂
ОтветитьI hope you do another one of these Jonny. But do it how you wanted this one to turn out.
Make sure it can keep the 13” wheels and it’s standard interior.
Give it a upgraded motor from the same group. The brakes can be upgraded without having to stop the car as if it’s going to go tracking. Becuase they never do. They go to shows.
Please do it again.
But do it correctly this time….. e.i how you wanted it.
I think Adam just wanted the easy way out. Your dream was the V6 so make the V6 work .
ОтветитьPoor ol' rover lost her V6 for no reason
ОтветитьShouldn't have got so excited for the v6 in the last episode I guess :D
Anyway, K20 is still a choice engine!
Great idea...its just a shame that the Rover, having come from Somerset yet broke down a couple of streets away from where you live now, has been set aside.
ОтветитьWell now there is a contender for coolest allegro… the retropower allegro with a Honda drivetrain as well…
ОтветитьIt's surely the sensible choice putting in a 4 cylinder, and I'm sure it's very good, but without the V6 I've lost all interest in this project. It should have been mad, but you're making it sensible. It should have been difficult and stupid, but now it's just eminently possible, and merely unwise.
ОтветитьIt's always good to have someone onboard who knows what they're doing.
ОтветитьAdam call it TYPE -R go on! Princess Type R looks like a great project, Matt do as Adam tells you, keep updating us every month Yes, in the k20 really makes more sense not unless that is, you stretched the car !!!
ОтветитьCrikey, as a tease, you are one sad fart.
ОтветитьWhat a car the Princess will be!
ОтветитьIt’s totally the correct way to go, there’s so much tuning parts available off the shelf. This will make the car much more reliable and usable.
ОтветитьWell of course the VTEC rather than the KV6 makes perfect sense, it will be much simpler I’m sure you’ll get equal or more power out of it and it will be a perfect sleeper hot hatch.
But doesn’t every manufacturer do a hot hatch and wasn’t even the Allegro available as a warmish hatch (without the hatch) thanks to a slightly larger (1750) and more powerful engine with V similar browny orange Moquette style trim, the Equipe?
So sadly its gone from “WOW a V6 engine Allegro !!!”, to, well kind of a clone of a hundred thousand other 4 cylinder big power hot hatches as made by every manufacturer, including BL/MGR, with for example the VVC engine Rover 25. But at least Rover when one step better with the ZS180. And yes I know that was half a class bigger.
So after finding this and thinking I’d see the creation of an epic one of a kind V6 supermini, maybe along the lines of the Renault Clio V6 I find its really going to be more like the resto of an XR3 with a Zetec engine.
Incredible channel, have been binge watching all thr barn finds and the agro build the last few days. Terrific work! Can I just ask though in ase I missed why, how come the change of company? Seems like the right choice adam shows great skill and knowledge 👌
ОтветитьKeep up the great work, looking good , good shout using the Honda Type R engine 👍
ОтветитьFeaturing the car that stole Vanden Plas hard earned reputation for quality and completely F&*^$ed it up
ОтветитьGreat engine choice, you can get a low profile sump for the k20 that might be a idea for clearance.
ОтветитьWas there an issue with the old garage that were dealing with the Allegro? End of part 3 there was promise of a sooner update then a huge gap to part 4 and it completely changed lol, change of garage, plan, team..... Everything! I'm not complaining, just curious. Looking forward to finally seeing it done!
ОтветитьI've only found this today but this is fantastic!!!!
ОтветитьOops sorry wrong vid 😂😂 love you guys
ОтветитьYou’ve the right engine… my son took his Honda to Nurburgring ring razzed it 4 times around….. holidayed about then drove back home…. Never missed a beat…… enjoy💪🏼🥸
ОтветитьNot not use the Montego Turbo engine???
Ответить...Really? A K20 swap? 😴
BOOORIIIING
an allegro equipe style splitter might hide that sump.
ОтветитьJohnny Smith you are my kind of pervert.....& Fab co are my kind of groomers.......💙☮️💜✌️✌️🏁
ОтветитьBit of rough ground or speed humps, sump gone🤔
ОтветитьIt'll be awesome ... change isa good thing
ОтветитьWorth the wait Jonny.
ОтветитьSo yeah the new engine is less interesting, but it's still going to be a cool build still.
ОтветитьI would have guessed a Golf R32 would have made a far better base than Honda and VW Golf...
ОтветитьHi Mate, I'll tell you how to wrap the whole Allegro project up in a week for less than £500, order a skip and bung the whole lot in it!
ОтветитьWould've been interesting to see a Honda J35 in there. It's a 60 Degree V6 so not as wide and 280 HP out the box. Plenty of tuning options, although probably not as much as the K20, they have civic drag cars in the US running 1000+ HP though. Main problem though is they're few and far between in the UK, would probably have to ship it from the states or Japan and most of the tuning bits too I imagine.
ОтветитьA little gutted seeing the V6 go. BUT Seeing the Princess, I've been thinking doing a V6 on my Ambassador for 2 years. I think this has now given me the Push.
ОтветитьDefinitely a good call in the K20, get a K tuned billet shifter for it, they feel amazing.
ОтветитьAbsolutely incredible. And when I saw the Princess it must have coincided with getting something in my eye because I felt a tear (My Dad drove my Grandad's Princess after he died and I had many happy memories colouring and playing in the back seat of that car)
ОтветитьThis project has now really lost something for me.
Was enthused to see how a Leyland Allegro made in Longbridge would then have a Honda but probably one of the best if not the best Austin Rover used and installed engine from the 827.
I'm all for this.
You made the right decision
Dry sump?
ОтветитьFantastic choice mate a k20 is spot on, check out boosted Boyz mr2 😎👌
ОтветитьLooking forward to seeing the allegro when it's done and also the Princess-type too!
Having owned an early 3.0 manual s type that thing will be great fun and will have less rust too!
About time BL cars started to get this kind of treatment. Brilliant! 😊
ОтветитьAlegYo
ОтветитьWhile I was initially a bit disappointed by the engine change it sort of makes sense and there are historical links between Honda and Rover anyway so there's still 'family' there. Looking forward to the next instalment, can I suggest something balls-out barmy for the V6? How about a mid-engined, supercharged LDV Pilot van? I doubt a V6 MGF would be possible... Great work.
