The Folly of Forager - A Forager Critique

For me I'll take forager over Minecraft i don't like building are taking hours and hours going through caves to find bare minimum i just play for fun which forager gives i don't like to mine they have mining rods and Minecraft boring as hell to me if you're not building houses are whatever there's not much to do but in forager i can upgrade my weapons have a thousand of drones fill all the world tile BUT it needs more enemies and bosses but Minecraft got the same mobs for years so ya forager any day

one huge issue I have is in one of the desert puzzles the boss elemental starts to spawn tons of enemy's and then it becomes impossible

If you don't like the game, perhaps it's because you prefer a game with a clearly defined goal, games that you engage in to go from point A to B, thus giving you a sense of accomplishment.

Forager is a game for folks that aren't time or goal driven, who rather find enjoyment just by immersing oneself inthe game's realm, and the tasks set forth...in this case...foraging, plenty of it.

It may look like Zelda or Stardew Valley, but it isn't trying to copy or blend those game's elements...it's a game about foraging...endless delicious foraging, and crafting in order to maximise and streamline your foraging efforts.

Similar to one reviewer who disliked Death Stranding because, in his words, it was endless walking, taking various postal packages to locations strewn in the dystopian landscape.

This reviewer failed to notice nearly all open world games use walking as the primary means of mobility. I suspect he simply didn't like it because it didn't have weapons and killing.

Thus regarding your click image text "What went wrong?"...I think you fail to realise Forger is simply not suited to your personal preferences and there's nothing wrong with the game itself.

and then you find out hopfrog stole the art from the artists who was helping him and refuse to touch the game after what he's done

You can make the world your own by changing the layout, ground tiling, moving around stuff.. like I made a mini Island for all the vaults, treasure island :)

This game is so stupid, its stressing me out and i cant take a break bc if i take a break there is millions of things in the island AND I HAVE TO BRRAK IT ALL AND MFER I CANNOT PLAY THIS, there is NOTHING that makes this worth playing for.

this is just a 10 minute video of ‘i dont like this game’ and idk why people think their opinions matter on the internet since all the ‘issues’ from the ‘lack of content’ in this game stem from peoples lack of creativity. its like sayings theres nothing to do in minecraft bc they can only build 3 by 3 box shelters

For someone that loves idle games like cookie clicker, this game is good? I saw many comment saying this is more a idle than a sandbox

Yeah, I'm not sure they've done themselves any favours listing those games .I'm not sure most of these comparisons need apply. No lore to tie stuff together? No sense of achievements from dungeons? Well that's Minecraft! not stardew. I found stardew far more tedious frankly. I'm not saying forager is as good as Minecraft but I believe when you think of it as a top down Minecraft it makes much more sense. Especially if you play Minecraft to relax in survival mode.

Its not a bad game... it's just not meaningful at all!
It's also a major excersize in frustration. Theres so much NOISE! Both literally, and also so many animations and bugs... and it just never ENDS. Like you said, it all just endlessly spawns around you.
It's......exhausting! Mentally.

This was one of my main complaints as well. You're not really building up towards anything. No real objective or ending, no final boss, and the bosses seem to be just a means of gathering rare resources

You know what really sucks? Having to spend so much extra time grinding because you find out that the books are upgrades that boost your experience gain AFTER you're already max level

I just started playing on gamepass.. its fun but doesn't really motivate you to do anything in particular.

Nothing, legit nothing went wrong, it’s a great game and I recommend getting it if you haven’t already.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I love the game to death and agree that it just feels incomplete. I hope it gets updates long into the future.

I loved how that series balanced action with crafting and harvesting. I thought this would be something of that nature. This looks more like Stardew, Moonlighter and Terraria which I didn't care much for any of those three. Basically it's a collectathon with dungeons as an afterthought much like the other games I didn't click with. Oh well, not worth the time I guess.
