The Yamaha WR250F Is Not What You'd Think Anymore

I'm looking for a new bike and was leaning towards the WR250F (A slightly older model like 2015), but now I'm not sure. I am a relatively new moto rider, and long time mountain biker. The twitchy throttle worries me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’ve notice the same I stall all the time in slow stuff but it just takes some getting uses to and getting the competition ECU and CCU so you can tune the engine to exactly what you want on the 2023 model it’s a Awsome bike I climbed all kinds of hills and hard induro riding

Any info where to find a flywheel weight for the 2023 wr250f?

Would have been cool to see if you could have tuned some of that out using the power tuner app

I was riding the MX250 in75 on the track and the DT 360 for everything else in between )) that was a comply bike to ride for long distances, they were fun times bike wise and not much has changed ! Now its space-age polymers and new alloys , 2-- all but gone , water cooled ,larger motors ,disc brakes

I have a 2006 WR250F and bought a 2023 WR250F few months ago. I can absolutely confirm it is not like the old generations. it's very aggressive, corners really well, very stiff, becomes smoother the faster you ride it. Throttle is an on/off switch. no in between. Beats you up. Wears you out. It is a full time woods race bike. Not a smooth running, well equipped trail bike. I should have test ridden one and KTM 350EXCF, KTM250XCF before making a purchase. I might have chosen differently.

I guess I’ll keep ahold of my 09 wr250f with 290 kit. I haven’t found a better bike for the riding I do. Has a recluse clutch, suspension by racetech suspension valved and spring just for me….. I always want a new bike. Til I ride one

Could you not fix the slower riding problems with the mapping you can do on your phone?

I would LOVE for Yamaha to make a WR300R, X, and F. Little torqueier down low. I think a vast majority of riders could use a tame 250 with low end torque to just cruise on trails but send it hard if needed.

I’d also love Yamaha to develop some new 2 strokes. As I’ve always had my eye on the KTM300

I shouldn't even have the privilege to comment on the topic lol! I ride a 2008 klx450r, and loving it. Torquey, but friendly ride, with lights. Never stalls, punchy but by no means lightning fast throttle response. Great for a novice like me, certainly wouldn't be able to enjoy anythjng that is razor sharp ready to kill, like a two stroke of any displacement lol. Rode my friend's 300cc two stroke ktm exc or smt like that, and that thing was way too hyper for my skill. Great videos, editing and cinematics a top notch.

Hey, I'm a brand new rider coming from a mtb background and looking to get into enduro/trail riding based in the Canterbury region. I'm well oversized at 6'5 and 100kg, and was wondering if you have any bike recommendations for a beginner of my size considering the riding I'm looking at doing?

Tried adjusting the mapping to help with the jerky throttle ( more fuel and less ignition down low) ? My -20 isn’t jerky at all, I bought it used so i dont know how it was acting when brand new. And the suspension has been revalved and feels great so far, gonna test some more rocky harder enduro trails soon. but a -22 i testrode stalled 20times in 10 minutes for me. 😬 is the -22 engine very differently built from the -20 model?

I'm new to dirt bikes but have been riding a zx6r for 7 years. Not really sure what kind of bike I should get, there's a track about an hour away from me but I also want to be able to go anywhere. If I did track mostly I wanted a yamaha 250 2 stroke and trails ect I've been looking at 250 or 450 enduros. Not really sure on any of it

I’m getting one and getting the safari tank on it strap my camp stuff on it and it’ll be a great adventure bike.

I’m glad I bought a 2022 TE250i instead of the WR250f which I was actually leaning towards but due to availability issues I ended up with the Husqvarna. After riding a 2003 525 EXC for almost 20 years I wasn’t too sure about going back to a 2 stroke but my new bike is absolute magic for a 65 year old veteran rider like me. It is fast, plush, has crazy good brakes and clutch, EFI with incredible range and no pre-mix to mess with, runs cool compared to my EXC and the list goes on and on. The WR250f looks very cool and I would have bought one if available but I found a place that was blowing out last years TE250i’s at a price comparable to the Yamaha so I pulled the trigger. Your video has confirmed my decision and I very much appreciate your insights and thoughtful comments. Greetings from Washington state USA.

A rekluse clutch solves nearly all those problems.
Had a 250fx, and the snappy throttle is easily overcome by clicking up a gear

So what are the best WR250's?
Alloy frame but still running a Carby?

My plan is to buy the same radioator fan as the WR and fit it on the fx

I have a question for you Im about to buy myself a yamaha YZ 250fx brand new bike but whould you prefer the WR 250f? Im bying it for a fun bike on the farm propably gonna take it to the track now and then and ride enduro so what bike do you prefer between the two?
