It's kind of Reggie's fault for naming Bowser the CEO of Nintendo US, When Bowser has a background of business studies and being a board member of EA.

We need Reggie back. He was a great leader. I don’t blame Doug Bowser for everything going wrong with Nintendo. He is only one man. However, there has been a noticeable shift towards anti-consumerist practices within Nintendo since Reggie left. I do not believe that is a coincidence.

Nintendo is still a good company. I feel like in 2021 was the only time where Nintendo got hate for the things they did such as NSO, but that’s forgivable.

Forgive me for being skeptical but any former company head is gonna try and downplay or deny the problems at the company they used to work at. It'd be a lot better to get a opinion from a former worker, who has a lot less to lose from exposing nintendo's wrongdoings. Let's also remember that he was the CEO of nintendo of america and any issues nintendo of japan had he'd have no knowledge of (that is if they go into the issues of Nintendo of Japan in the full interview). No hate towards Reggie I don't know for sure if he's a bad CEO but any CEO is pretty much the worst person to talk about a companies wrongdoings.

it's almost like people think that nintendo has always been as horrible as nowadays
i don't recall a time as bad as this during the iwata/reggie era where major problems get ignored because they know people are gonna buy their stuff regardless

Good executives like him keep their ear directly on the ground, getting feedback straight from the people. Sounds like the ew execs are the typical aloof types who only talk to other execs and have no idea what's going on outside the princess's castle

It’s kinda sad that Reggie has retired, since Nintendo is being run by someone else Reggie has lost all power over it. There’s not much he can do except watch in sorrow as his kingdom that is Nintendo slowly falls into ruin……

Y'know I remember Reggie once asking us to give Doug Bowser a chance when he took over as President of NoA.

Well we certainly gave him a chance, it's been a while now and...look at what Nintendo's become these days. Granted it's not necessarily his fault, but he's not exactly done anything to make himself as positively remembered as Reggie is yet and I don't think he will anytime soon.

As for the current President of NoJ, well we already knew he was not a video game person going in so that alone says all.

He's BSing, this is exactly the Nintendo he left FYI. Stop trying to cover up for a disgusting company, anyone who buys anything from this company supports the predatory tactics that this company has been using against children for decades now.

People seem to forget the literal decades Nintendo has been sueing small content creators that freely promote their games, IPs, and music. Hell they're still making it a nightmare for people to play Melee or any of their beloved games let alone fan mods or music remixes.

No shareholder is your friend. No capitalist is your friend.

Bowser seems very uninterested in leading the company from Day one tbh. You rarely every saw him and it shows that he was in it for the money in the first place, this is certainly a result of such poor leadership.

I have to pop in here to say... this is BS. I worked at Nintendo at the Redmond campus during the time of Reggie, as customer service (I did wi-fi assistance for the DS and Wii and 'legacy' system support for the older consoles) . Reggie came on board about a month after I was hired.

And back then it was already terrible. 80% of the workers were perma-temps, me included. You could get fired by a computer, for having too many 'demerits' (9 at the time of my employment). You could get a demerit for being 60 seconds late to your shift. And I worked the opening shift, starting at 6am, and there was only two machines you could clock in at. So we had to do this rapid-fire drill, where everyone had 5 seconds to scan in, cause if we didn't then the people at the back of the line would be more than 60 seconds late and would get a demerit. One of the machines didn't work half the time...

They required that you schedule all of your sick days at least one full day in advance! If you didn't, 3 demerits.

Every 10 months they would fire you for 2 months, to "prove" that you weren't actually a permanent employee. They would tell you to get on unemployment, then they'd hire you back 2 months later for another 10 months...

The temps were treated like dirt, and most of the employees were temps.

C'mon Reggie, it may be worse now that you are gone, but don't pretend you ran a nice and friendly company.
