How to REALLY Play Bar Chords - A Beginner Guitar Tutorial

Tips I got from Reddit: Practice all open chords WITHOUT using your index finger, unless when it's necessary (for open B major, for instance). You will be surprised by its result. After all, smooth barre chord transitions require you to control your index finger so it won't follow the rest of your finger to press unnecessary strings.

All of you that are intimidated and are frustrated about bar chords, it’s not impossible, you’ll get to a point where you think back about how you thought they were hard. This is coming from someone struggling heavily with barre chords lol. I can’t do them at all, but I do remember not being able to do a c chord and thinking I would never be able to do it, now I do it without even thinking about it.

I have very short fingers and cannot prevent them touching the other strings when playing chords, especially on the top half of the fretboard. It's so frustrating and annoying 😢

Every damn time, the joints on my index finger line up with the 2nd and 4th strings. So those two strings are always muted, no matter how hard I press!!! It's RIDICULOUS!!!! How do you play these stupid chords?!!!

I have most of my barre chords down, except starting with the A. Bmin no problem, B, forget it, I’ll normally chest with a B7th. The problem, big hands and fat fingers, A is a one finger chord, no way I can get three fingers in the same fret. Barre the an a chord finger using my A finger, no way it’s going to happen. Also, when playing barre chords ont the slide of your first finger, don’t try to use the meaty part of your barre finger.

This is quite heartbreaking to notice the wound on ur fingerboard. I d get emotional for half of the day if I accidentally scratched my guitar like that.
