mzab is actually really fun as you can first attack tougourt which always allys for fezzan then u can just vassalize fezzan and annex tougourt and then prey on a weakened tlemcen and after you annex fezzan you can start to raid and because u are ibadi if you sanction holy war you get a claim on ALL the provences around you

Now you have trippled your provinces, own a coastline province (and if you didnt cheat out your ally, a decent ally to go). Potentially you can annex Granada before the Iberians do.

From then on you are good to go.

Chukchi can have a relatively easy time colonizing the Americas. Nobody bothers you for quite some time.

Chukchi isn't that hard, no big hostile neighbors and you're close to the new world - it's no Portugal but definitely viable for a colonization run. I used it to grab the blood for the sky god achievement.

Chukchi is an easy nation. You just need to escape to America.

For the Najvo there could be a way out of a terrible start and that is try and deliberately give away one of your provinces so that you can become a migratory tribe allowing you to migrate to a better location and also make your starting leader a general with a chance that he will die early meaning you get the chance of getting a better leader to replace him

If you vassalise Zuni as Navajo and give him Paiute province, you would be 1 province minor and could migrate :) There are far worse north american starts.

I remember how fun it was playing Chavchuveny (neighboring Siberian OPM) and stealing colonialism from Europe and spawning gold on my capital as the lone Grassland province in the area. It was actually a fun challenge, as I culture converted to Jurchen and formed Manchu.

So it turns out I've played as most of these tags and half of them have achievements tied to them to boot. IMO you're missing out on the REALLY awful nations of Luwu, Weylata, and Haida, which are by far worse nations than some of these tags. Weylata has the damn generic "National" ideas as a festishist surrounded by Copts and Sunni Muslim nations ffs.

Mzab is actually a lowkey good starting nation. You have the imamate so you get free claims on all your neighbors and since you are threatened by all the big Berber nations you can pretty easily get an Iberian or Mamluk alliance and steamroll the region.

With navajo I think the best way to start is "win" a war and give away a province

Most of these are not actually rng.

Also not a single nation on this list has a harder starting survival problem than Damot for example.

You don't need to no cb to get past rift lakes, just claim over water and annex vassals.

You can make a claim to attack the kongo region from the great lakes region. You still need to vasalize, but its not too bad.

If you like OPM in Africa with crap economy but enough troops to fight neighbours, I highly recommend Pate on the Swahili coast but I can’t wait to deal with Kilwa
