It's not like this was a downgrade or anything it's a lighting decision for the cinematic story vs the vs gameplay. They couldn't have the lighting like that for the competitive mode you could see shit, the assets are obviously the same. Nothing to see here.

They nerfed gameplay lighting , but intros and outros have the same lighting ..

Hopefully the PC version will allow the lighting to restored to the original trailer quality.

If it's a part of story mode, I'd rather not have my characters lit up like a studio set. I get it if it's for competitive reasons, but this should be enabled. The trailer was more dramatic with the light and shadows, had way more effects and particles. The dust on the ground picked up by the wind of impact was some DBZ level stuff. Perhaps framerate was affected for lower end specs, but I'm quite miffed that we don't at least have options to have that turned on in exchange for performance.

Tekken's been working fine regarding the characters' both face and body models, but they made some mistakes again.
They put redundant characters, decreased graphics, and loads of easy combo assists and rage arts which shouldn't be used in a professional fighting system. It's just I wished they would do it more like the Tekken 6 way(old school), and not to transfer the combat system into a cinematic one.

Context is key. Of course they're going to tone down a lot of the environmental effects for a normal match. That would be way too distracting. It'll more than likely be much more comparable in the actual story mode since the story is more about theatrics as opposed to visibility.

Idk why but the trailer gameplay hits different I guess trailer animation and colours and graphic are lit

In the start they advertise game in a way that audience speechless and obviously they lower things down to maximize performance in the end. Everbody does that.

Why did they change the lighting?

the clear difference is they had to tone down the reflectiveness of the rain on their bodys and the lack of fog or the strength of lighting, i dont care too much i wanna see my charater anyways, makes the background look kinda low contrasted tho.

The current build now looks more like something between Tekken 7 and 8, rather than a full-fledged next gen, which fucking made as much as 7 years.
If this downgrade only applies to multiplayer- let's say, but if the story mode will be the same picture, it is a spit in the face comparable to Watch dogs 1.

Night and day difference. T8 looks like crap.

The lighting is different and some graphical effects have been tweaked down a little. But it's still acceptable.

The stage reminds me of jinpachis stage in tekken 5 xD

Its prob for the sake of clarity tbh , cool particles and dark lighting look cool but can obsucre a characters movements

You know for these 3d fighting games it would be great to have an options to literally hide everything from the health bars... making fights interesting and being able to see the entire 3d stage... that would be really cool...
