On my naturally curly thick long hair I use what looks like a paddle brush but the top of it is not solid, so it's similar to running fingers through your hair. But I am going to try out the last one you spoke of....

Note to self: Only use a round brush for blow drying because paddle brushes can't hold tension

Reminded me of the time my friend’s kid got into my stuff and tried to use my round brush while she was in the bathroom, and she came out with it stuck to the side of her head lol (it was completely fine with some conditioner)

I'm a guy and I've been growing my hair out for like 3 years now. It's past my shoulders. I've been using a detangling brush wrong this whole time, which explains a lot. My problem with getting horrible knots in my curly hair is what made me click this video. Thank you for making factual, simple videos, that aren't loaded with ads or aimed only towards women. I can watch these without feeling totally lost, or like I'm trying to join Rupaul's drag race 😂 Now I know if I just brush my hair properly and get a leave in conditioner and a better shampoo, I will be doing way better than before.

I have the exact Mason Pearson brush in the video...and I actually find it incredibly difficult to get through my wet hair. I do have fairly long, naturally curly hair and use a leave in conditioner...Briogeo Superfoods and Verb shampoo and conditioner...so, not cheap products! I have had to cut out knots with the Mason Pearson! I do not recommend it for naturally curly hair when wet. Having said that, the Mason Pearson feels amazing and works really well AFTER my hair is straightened...just wanted to warn the curly haired girls before they spend $250 on a brush!😮

In addition to these brushes, Southern women will also want to invest in a large, rectangular paddlebrush with a good strong handle. You might also consider buying more than one, in case one breaks. Of course, a fly swatter, spatula, wooden spoon, or green hickory switch will work as well. It's all about accessibility.

I discovered the Wet brush about 5 years ago. They make two types, one with the brush bristles are widely placed, it is for detangling and fine hair. I have fine hair and it is what I use 99% of the time. They also make more standard thickness brush which might be desired for heavier hair, I use it now and then when I want a little less separation of the hair. My hair condition has never been better. I do however use a scalp brush to shampoo my hair and in doing so I save my nails and do not tangle up my hair.

Do you have any tips on hair staying cruly and nice? cause even tho I have curly hair every morning its a mess and I have to brush it making me look like a blown out poodle

I don't use combs because my hair is so thick that it just snaps them. I have an FHI detangling brush that works well and is easy to clean. I do use scrunchies, which I know aren't great for your hair, but again my thick hair keeps snapping the ouchless bands.

I purchased the wet brush a few days ago, and I couldn't believe it. I used to use a wide wooden comb to detangle my hair (after reading that eco brushes are the best) , and I was spending approx. 15 minutes each day to detangle it. I always had thin, fine problematic hair, and there was a lot of hair on my comb, brush and in the sink each day. The very first time I used the wet brush I was speachles cos it took me less than 10 moves, or 30sec to detangle my morning hair. You should get a medal for this recommendation

Wet brushes haven't been around that long. So older stylists might not use them. That doesn't mean they don't know how to detangle hair and it doesn't mean you should run away from them. Disparaging others for doing it differently than you do is a disgusting way to treat your fellow stylists. Also, your video is about white hair. It doesn't explain different hair types at all. So, someone might use a different method to detangle coarse wiry hair or extra fine hair and it doesn't make them wrong. There is no 'one size fits all' for caring for different hair types. The brushes that you don't use because they don't work for the hair you work on do serve a purpose for other people with other types of hair. Even the natural boar bristle round brush serves a purpose. You should do your due diligence to find out what that is instead of telling people that they are useless. Also... spreading natural oils throughout your hair (better with a flat-head brush than with a round brush, but still best with a natural boar bristle brush) is good and necessary for some hair types. You can choose to add the necessary oils through product, or you can use the right brush and your own natural oils. That it doesn't work well for your clientele does not mean that it does not work at all nor that it is bad for everyone. Your 'one way for everyone' approach is misleading, as is the title of your video. You don't talk about different hair types at all.

Doesn’t apply to coily/curly hair but Interesting video. So a curly girl who wants straight or close to flat hair should not use a Denman brush? A wet brush on damp hair is better? I found the balls on the top of the teeth catch in coily/curly hair. Is there another brush that does the same?

I also can’t find a 100% boar bristle brush that reaches the scalp. Where do I find one?

If you look at some dog brushes, they make them just like the Pearson brush, just WAY cheaper. Some of them are literally no different than human brushes.

I bought a Mason Pearson lookalike on Amazon for around $40 and it's worked really nicely for me. I haven't tried the name brand one to compare, but I can't imagine it being 6x better.
Yeah it's still a good bit more expensive than other brushes, but not AS bad and it's still going strong after several years of use. Well worth it IMO. And if even $40 is outside your hair care budget, it's a good birthday/Christmas gift idea.

Each time I would wash my hair, I'd notice at least of around 50 to 60 strands of hair on my bathroom's floor and an increasing amount on the towel and scattered throughout the day...I'm only 20 years old and my hairline had started to recede. In the previous 3 months, though, I didn't saw single strand of hair fall off my scalp....What you need to understand is, you have to identify your own concern...I had a severely troubled scalp....I used Littleextrra's cocooniion anti hair fall kit....I also consumed between 10 and 12 leaves of curry daily for the past three mnths..I have seen that my hair is stronger, denser, and darker without any hair fall and flaky scalp...hopefully, this helps anyone!!

My mum had a Mason Pearson for over 40 years, I bought the cheap knock offs and they didn't last. I lashed out a couple of years ago and got myself a Mason Pearson and I don't regret it at all, I have a wet brush and I love it, but the Mason Pearson is just so much better at getting the fluff and crap out of your hair. I honestly think the MP is worth it if you look after your stuff, I plan on keeping this brush for decades, so the cost is worth it IMO

I stopped using my wet brush because it was pulling more hair than it needed to, even with me being gentle. It was just safer to finger detangle my hair and brush it when it was dry. I did learn that my wood paddle brush is great for when my hair is about 50%-80% dry though.
