My mom adopted a 5y old cat who was called vicious. The cat was only scared bcs no one had showed her any love before we came in the picture. And I have never seen a cat so stressed put before ever..
She is now the sweetest cat you could ever imagine. And a happy 15y old!
We learned that she at some point had been hit by a car, her pelvis had been shattered & the owner at that time did nothing. So it healed but wrongly..
We found that out a few years ago butwe still can't think about it without crying. Bcs that was an injury that would have been impossible to hide or go unnoticed.
Even a vet almost hit the cat at one point bcs she clawed the vet when she was scared. I warned the vet but she didn't listen.
But now, she is the sweetest kkndest cat ever, she has the sweetest little meow, she comes running up to you & is so gentle & so sweet.
She may still hiss at us when we groom her bcs she is scared. But she doesn't try to bite or scratch us.. she now knows that we only do things to help her feel better.. And yes she is getting spoiled rotten. Those first horrific 5y of her life when she was badly neglected, left to find for herself for weeks at a time. Outside in our cold Finnish climate.
We make sure that she never have to be cold, hurt or hungry ever again..
Ofc they have made a mark on the cat, but a full 10y of nothing but love has changed the cat beyond recognition...
If people realised how much love a cats will give you back, they would never harm or abandon their cats.
If you show a cat kindness & patience, they will give it all back to you. And they will be the most loyal friend you ever could have..

Poor thing, why get a cat if you're so put off by the fact they have claws?! You amputate a body part because it's inconvenient to you? Then a cat's not for you (or any animal or living creature)

I have my mom's cat. I dont know how old she is. And she has never been around many people. I have a younger cat. She is terrified of my younger cat and hisses if she's a foot away. I just try to keep them apart and keep her feeling safe for now. It's only been couple of weeks. And she was alone with my mom for years. But I'm the only other person the cat will tolerate to be close to her. So I am good to her. I really love her.

all you have to do is clip their nails. Just put in the effort to clip their nails and it will be fine. If you can’t handle that then a cat just isn’t the right pet for you. There are cats in my house and I clip all their nails, it’s just part of the maintenance of owning a cat.

I would adopt a cat that I cannot pet. Animals don’t exist for our convenience. I can provide a home without expecting any affection in return. As long as the cat is happy and safe. If the cat becomes affectionate, it’s a bonus. ❤

My mom and stepdad rescued a year old cat who was a mess. Full of parasites of every kind, hair mats, sick, malnourished, and her claws were so overgrown that they had curved into the beans, grown right through the skin. Maybe there's a surgery that would have allowed her to keep her claws, but back then the only option was to amputate. I didn't know that at the time, and when I met Miss Molly, and saw that she had no claws, I asked Mom when she started worrying about the furniture. Well, she hadn't. Her companion animals are allowed on her furniture. She told me she would never do that to a healthy cat, but that Molly would have been in constant pain from the damage. I had to admit that by the time I met her, months after she was rescued, when I came home for a visit, Molly was very healthy and happy, and able to walk, prance and pounce. She wasn't able to walk far when they rescued her, and when she did walk, just imagine walking on cat claws embedding in your feet. She didn't deserve to be in whatever situation caused that to happen, but at least she lived many more years in a loving home in excellent health. She lost almost all her teeth from the malnutrition, but she never went hungry again. Sometimes amputation is necessary, but you don't just go in to ask for your toes to be amputated, and you shouldn't do that to a cat.

What episode is this, I have an extremely hand shy cat that was abused by a previous owner and has been rehomed 2 times in the past week and half. I took him in bc the guy who found him told me he's very lovely just been through a lot and I need help knowing what to do

Ohmygoddess, euthanasia is NEVER an option… the cat is a VICTIM of human cruelty, not the offender. I’m so glad Jackson is on it, but I’ve dealt with cats like this before and the best you can do for them is LEAVE THEM ALONE!… as long as it takes…if this foster person can’t make that long term commitment, then that’s not the place for her.

Oh, no. I strongly disagree. Claws...the fully pointed, razor sharp ones hurt WAY more than a bite does.

I wouldn't report anything. What they don't know won't hurt you or the cats. Most shelters are just looking for an excuse to kill. I wouldn't help them out on that! I've been bitten & scratched lots (I helped my neighbor corral her feral barn cats), and I'm still alive. I'd never say anything to anybody. Kosher? Nope. Do I care? Yeah, right...😂

Yea, I had a cat that was abused by a man, he hated men, chased a jehovas witness off.... had no problems with women though.

that looks exactly like my baby Boo. Boo had a bad situation as a kitten and came to be traumatized as well. When I say what it takes is a careful hand a consideration for her space, I really mean it. Nowadays my cat clings to me so hard that the only time my best friend had to look after her for a week she stopped eating because she was so scared without me. I am very happy to see Johnny come out of her shell.

Mmm, fully being judgy, euthanasia is so extreme. What entitles us to feel like we have to be able to pet a cat? Why can’t they exist? They have trauma and extreme boundaries, why threaten to euthanize when you can accommodate to their boundaries if you actually like animals?
