You mentioned Hue lights. I have some E27 color lights (1100 lumen) to use them with Razer Synapse 3. Is there any other lights that are cheaper?
At the moment i have starting to use Home assistant with the HUE Bridge (not the USB stick). Any good GU10 multi color lights that i can use with Razer synapse and HUE Bridge?

I have like 40 hue bulbs around the home so I'm definitely a fan boy but goddamn I wish I could go back in time. I'm stuck in the Hue ecosystem. There's much better options now that I didn't have when I started.

Would a smasung mesh/smarthings hub work to fill in the switchbot hub 2? I love the nfc tags and the jolly hoolgianess injection of Paul Hibbert. Smart home kings do exist so screw the dutch!

Instead of NFC tags wouldn't it be better to use a Zigbee/WiFi button or switch to trigger routines.

You can solve your brightness issue with the Switchbot strip by buying 3 of them and still pocketing the price differences.

Is anyone else having issues intergrating the switchbot bulbs to HA? i have tried serveral times and after several reboots of my PI and the GUI, i just get the same message of "Aborted, Failed to connect", can anyone help?
Stand alone the bulbs and NFC tags work great by the way.

Philips has the honor of having been early integrators. And by that, I mean true integrators. They work, and they wrk with my other smart home systems. Flawlessly. And they did it years before so many of the others. The majority of my installation is their color light strips, and in the locations that have bulbs the brightness is more than sufficient. Maybe when I’m old and bald I’ll need brighter light. In the meantime, I don’t have to kludge things. I’m a cheap guy; I love to save $$$ wherever possible. That I continue to invest in the Hue ecosystem is because, despite the high price, it is worth every penny.

Why do companies think 60w is bright enough for light bulbs? It's NOT for many uses. Kitchens, work areas, etc. 100w should be a default. After all, if you want less brightness, you can always trun them down. Ugh

But Paul with your phone linked to home assistant, it can detect your phone is on charge, and you can use that as a trigger to fire your night scene. No need for a NFC tag.........OWWW HOME ASSISTANT. LOL

I know I should be interested in this home automation stuff but I just can't be arsed.

However I love the way you rip the sh1t out of the Philips Hue fans.

I also love your inability to be serious on any topic. Very impressive!

I have filled my home with WIZ devices (from home depot) which was acquired by Phillips but doesn't require a hub and are much cheaper.

But I do find that the bulbs do stop talking to the router periodically (and permanently in some cases).

Overall... I've been very happy with WIZ (and super aggravated at the same time)

Has anyone else had issues with bulbs just 'going away'?

I love SwitchBot! The IR repeater in the Hub does some crazy things with my Home Enterteinment system… rerouting audio, switching extra hdmis etc… Too bad it doesn’t support Home Assistant directly, as I’ve used up my free 5 IFTTT Long time ago :/

Bought a load of switchbot gear when you had the last promotional code. Had been very happy but now the camera has static on the audio feed making it unusable. Haven't been able to get any response from their support team.

I will start off by saying that I really like Hue and all of the lights in my house are Hue. I agree they are expensive however due to the build of my house and the sheer number of devices I have found WiFi bulbs to be unreliable, so switched back to Hue. I found it interesting looking at the list of why you hate hue to see how some of them they have fixed. The power loss state can now be changed and the newer light strips have the controller separate. At least they are listening. Plus they work great with HomeKit. I agree they are over priced and not bright enough however especially with their outdoor range they have been great for us.

Power you charging cradle from a wifi switch so it's off when you put your phone on it then it should read your NFC tag and then switch on your wireless charger socket on using the scene, can you then use HA to switch off your charger at some point later when the phones chrged, ready for the next time.

My Plex server lives about 400 miles away (because that's where Google Fiber and its 1 gig upload is available) and occasionally one of the external drives would power off. I installed a switchbot over the power button so I can trigger it when that happens instead of calling someone who lives close by to drive over and do it for me. Recently the server itself remained shut off after a power outage so I just bought another bot and installed it over that power button as well. Now I look forward to either one powering off so I have an excuse to show off my little robot fingers.

I used tasker with NFC tags to do home automation before all the assistants became available. It was an extension to the dock idea on my Nexus one, which changed the phone to a different mode depending on which dock it was in (car and nightstand)

I had another tasker automation to scan for when a certain Bluetooth device was in range and turn on my home lights if it was getting near dark.

The Bluetooth device in question was the TV in someone's house two streets away from me. Didn't need to actually connect to it, just see it as I drove past.
