I would prefer call first , especially this is the role you used to have strong interest into .

My husband has been rejected from jobs. They’ve always sent a rejection email. I suppose email is ok.

Hi Madeline thank you so much for making such helpful videos. You're doing great!
I wanted to ask what to do if you send this email to a potential employer after accepting another offer and they still insist for you to come and interview quickly so they can also extend an alternative offer?

How I view it, they wouldn't hesitate to ghost me if they decided to move forward with another applicant. So I'd do the same to them. Obviously, if you don't want to burn any bridges, don't do this. But if I've already accepted a job elsewhere that's better than what they can offer, I'd just ignore them. I don't owe them an explanation especially since so many companies just ignore you once they realize they don't want to move forward.

I chose email, as I truly believe if I phoned the decline, I would have procrastinated forever..

Might be in this situation as well as far as multiple offers. Problem is i accepted one verbally but if the next one sounds better how would I go about declining after accepting?

Hey Madeline! Your videos and advices have been really really helpful. I followed the story toolbox method, your suggestion to answer something about myself, and all other behavioral questions. I must say that I have had quite decent success with them. Interviewers have been visibly impressed. Having a set of answers ready for these behavioral questions allowed me more time to prepare for the technical questions. I got the job offers that I wanted and am in a position to actually choose between different offers. Thank you so much!

As for the call vs mail, I have used the mail and offer-to-call technique. I think the mail allows me to be clear with my communication without being awkward and for them to also have time to respond.

❤ from Bangalore, India.

I am so grateful that I got to this point where I have to make this choice. I have been diligently following your videos on the how-to's of everything and it has landed me the job offers I interviewed for! Not only I was prepared for the interviews, but it gave me the confidence to go through it. Thank you so much!

We had someone accept a position one day and then the next day email in and say that the company is not a good fit. 🤣 Looking back, as I was trying to help this person settle in with IT details, this person didn't want to a laptop issued to her to take home. 😆 Honestly, email is fine. Potential candidates do not owe an employer anything more formal especially if the employer has be using email to communicate.

A difficulty comes, in the interview, when we have questions of the employer/company:
How long was the last person in that position (and other questions) and in the interview they hide behind: "That's confidential" or "we cant discuss that because it violates privacy" and everything you want to find out is either confidential or some violation or "proprietary" info not to be released.

Here are some things iiii would watch-out for:
1. When they are looking for a candidate who will "act with a sense of urgency". RUN. It's a fast & furious atmosphere.

2. We expect our customer service reps to "show empathy". Translation: they expect you to sit there and take it as customers on the phone abuse YOU.

3. Looking for a "fast learner". Translation: they wont train you. Any training you get will "suck", be very poor quality and leaving out alot of what you need to know and be much too short. You will be left to yourself much too quickly to hunt and find the info you need. You wont know WHERE half the things you need are, in the computer.

4, they want someone "aggressive". Translation: ANY customer who doesnt BUY immediately today and who was "just looking"....its your fault!
5. A BIG Red Flag to watch out, for: misleading VAGUEness. Like when you apply for a position in Hospital Patient Admitting. This sounds like a "front lobby" position and you apply for it. It may even say it is. But then you get the interview and then they spring a bait-n-switch on you that: you'll be working swing-shift all the time in the emergency room admitting and will likely be expected to stay there for two years before you can transfer out.The AD you responded to and the job description given said nothing at all about this. What you'll be doing is much less desireable than what they advertised and what you applied for.
6. You seem to have an almost "unlimited" job description. Is there anything that ISN'T your job?? They will put it as "and other duties as may be assigned". If you say anything or stand up for yourself, then your not "flexible". CAN WE know-what-we're-signing-up-for?
7. when they expect all of their employees to do some community service work outside of the office, or volunteerism/"service" beyond your 40 hr work week.

The thing is I'm not a very good verbal communicator. I much prefer email and writing over talking. Yeah that means I suck at interviewing. Plus I'm on the spectrum. I'm high functioning. I can understand you but I don't exactly have the right skillset to express what I'm thinking.
