Home Libraries

A stack of books does not make a library. Just as buying a property does not make a home.

We don't simply buy a home to look at it. We place ourselves, our families, our desires, and our life inside of them. When we inhabit spaces and homes, we leave our mark on them, and they us.

In my past career as a librarian, I have long been interested in the act of collecting books. Long before Marie Kondo helped the clutter-bugs purge their excessive book collections (thank you to all the kami that live within our books ✨), librarians were trained to be masters in the art of weeding and organizing books.

Now as a real estate professional, I wanted to explore a few choice home libraries that reveal what the owners are passionate about and what the aesthetics of their home libraries reveal about them.
