ОтветитьThey literally did not copy-paste. Play the game with 0 swing assist and say it again. Also, loop de loops, swinging around corners quick, web wings, better air tricks for peter, the ability to jump and dash in the air (yes, this was in Miles Morales as well, but it does it better here since you don't lose speed from jumping and you can't just spam it)

ОтветитьAsking for 100% realistic physics in a game where you olay as a guy who can walk on walls is weird. I mean in real life infinite loop de loops arent possible because of gravity. I personally think parkour should be implemented into the swinging. I think it would really help Insomniac's system stand out by melding the two together.

ОтветитьThis is a critique I had with the first game(and unfortunately was still present for the second one) and I’m surprised more people haven’t talked about it: spidey’s control. His control always felt off to me in these games, like he had no weight to him.
He could go from zero to 100 speed wise in an instant, and yeah like you said can instantly change his inertia.
Although I applaud them for making such great games and the hard work they’ve done, Insomniac needed to spend more time making Spider-Man feel “attached” to the world, if that makes sense. Like for example, Jin from ghost of tsushima feels very attached to the world and weightful. Spidey feels the opposite imo

ОтветитьI agree i definetly enjoy playing with zero swing assist. and I'm definetly annoyed i can'ts just hold onto my web. overall in terms of game feel. I thinkit is better to fake your physics to get the best feeling and most responsive controls. Platformers have coyote time and take a bunch of liberties with physics. to get the best feel. overall i think it's the best call. though i think lot can be added without changing the skill floor. along with an advanced swing mode for the more challenging physics that can't just be layered on top

ОтветитьActually the story is where it falls, because unlike the 1st game, it was less woke. Nowadays, we have to hop on the "New Normal" as MJ in this game puts it.
The story unfortunately was focused getting the message out from woke propaganda and it's obvious to anyone that pays attention a little.
Hopefully, humans will not consent to it as it means ro destroy humanity by removing human qualities and what was genuine essentially.

I absolutely hate how you start swinging and moving before you even shoot your web. he just floats up into the air and starts swinging while the wb is still in frame being shot lmfao. these little things take away from the experience imo. there barely any weight to spidey he doesn’t feel like he’s a physical thing moving thru this space. that’s one big issue I hope they fix; making the physics a little more realistic

ОтветитьI will say this Wos let’s you do so much more like vertical slingshot on ground and air, going up AND down on walls and so on. 2004 spm2 let you use two webs while swinging. Now it’s important to note that insomniac spent a good chunk of development on the web wings so I won’t bash them but we can only hope for the next one

ОтветитьThe only things I agree with this video is not being able to do flips with the wingsuit, and some small stuff being automated
overall, the dodge button and tether swing kinda saves this game's traversal system on top of new tricks, slingshot, loop de loop (No, you don't HAVE to dive to do loops, just be faster), that one glitch where you can fly across the map (with no loading screens),no invisible walls in the map
this video needs to blow up so inosmniac can see it. send this video to all your friends and tell them to like it.

Ответить“That game had ACTUAL physics” (shows clip of the most laughably busted PS2 physics possible lol. You’re not thinking about any of this practically. They have to allow the player to move through a MASSIVE map constantly rendering, so the less obstacles, the better.
Also, while it may be fun to fuck around and break a physics system, from a quality, gameplay and artistic perspective, having the superhero move and act like a superhero instead of constantly fucking up slamming into walls is the better way to go. Sure they could have a “wall slamming active mode,” but as a default, this makes much more sense.
It still sucks that it’s 2023 and we STILL don’t have the ideal Spider-Man game that hits all the marks of what makes the character Spider-Man..

ОтветитьI too would love to see far more realistic games especially regarding the physics - thats part of the reason why Im playing Flight Simulator now because I got introduced to flying in the early battlefield games but those have now completly garbage physics to make flying much easier than it used to be especially helicopters.
However when it comes to the spiderman games I think if you had realistic swing physics it would become completely impossible - finding a suitable anker point for the next shot, aiming and timing it correctly and then swinging given your momentum and your new anker point and web length would mean you would crash and die after just a few swings.
So instead of doing the impossible or doing some arkward mix that doesnt feel satisfying they thought lets make the player "feel" really good swinging through the city athletically like in the movies.

So was I when sm2 on the ps4 dropped, or ultimate or wos. ОтветитьWe need insomniac to directly see this guy's vid. I truly believe the solutions he offered is a step in the right direction. I love the swinging system as an arcade style but everything he pointed out as an advanced system would have been insanely cool to play
ОтветитьBit of a off the walls approach, but adding complexity to the traversal and an organic(non-single-button skill based) progression to a player's swinging ability throughout the game (ala SM2, USM, WoS) would help feel a like young spider man learning the ropes of it himself.
Saying this, it would be awesome if they overhauled the system this way in an origin game (next game maybe? I'm hoping here)
Also, thematically i guess it's not the worst having easy mechanics with an older experienced Spider-Man, though that's also a missed opportunity they had with Miles Morales.
I agree with you but the wing suit argument i found kind of dumb. If you don't like the wind tunnels just don't use them thats what I do, I only use the updrafts. This game is a superhero power fantasy while I agree with you that I want to see more difficult traversal I doubt that's what the majority of players want and that's pretty important to consider. If it is the case the majority of players don't want more difficult web swinging insomniac making it harder despite what the majority wants it would be relatively idiotic

Ответитьcharacter locomotion in spiderman ps4/5 is like riding a bike with training wheels, as where spiderman 2004 is super talented, full control parkour and swinging that feels like a unicycle i still boot up 2004 spiderman occasionally just to re experience and re learn the great locomotion system. It made me able to enjoy the game a lot longer, sometimes ill play a bit of spiderman ps4 because the combat has mostly improved a lot since then, and well, the cinematic graphics + music are great.
Ive yet to play spiderman 2 ps5 but it doesn't look like the locomotion is as player free as 2004, i mean, you can smack into walls in a game that's 20 years old AND choose to play it using zero webs just parkour and then you also have simple 1 web swinging and beautiful master leveo 2 web transition swinging..... i swear, if i ever made comparison videos... wed get perfect spiderman gameplay. And it would have multiplayer co op.
my best guess is that the swing assist is just a prototype, and by sm3's released they learned how to give the best of both swinging mechanics to the players

ОтветитьI gotta say, you picked some good ass music for this essay. Anyway, to springboard off of what you're saying so far as of 1/2 the video: Web of Shadows x Treyarch SM2 x Ultimate Spiderman swinging + Prototype 1 Parkour would be perfection. Also Prototype-like combat. I have yet to experience a beat-em-up open-world with superpowers game that feels as good as Prototype.
Also, Spidey should be AT LEAST as fast on the ground as Mercer (roughly 55mph), if not, as fast as Heller (roughly 70mph). No more of this sub 35mph BS, dude is solidly 5x as strong as Captain America and Cap can run 40-45mph flat out.

ОтветитьThe fanboys seem to be extremely sensitive to any criticism of this "perfect" game. I on the other hand fully agree with your video and if anything it's not just safe, I feel Insomniac was straight out lazy this time around and the game feels far more like a cash grab. I even forgot how many features the 2004 game had.
What's sad is that Insomniac, seemingly impervious to any criticism, is not about to fix any of the issues because hey sales are up, who cares about delivering a quality game, right?
As usual it's probably gonna be up to the PC modders to fix this, or at least what can be fixed.

ОтветитьI do hope that they end up including advanced swinging as an option in the inevitable Spider-Man 3 (running down building feels like something that should have been in the games from the start). Honestly, my current issue with these games is how aggressive they can sometimes get with the tutorials. It's not much of a problem on your first playthrough of these games, but when you're halfway through the game, and the game slows down to show the prompt "R2 to Swing" (despite me playing on the highest difficulty, which you can't even unlock unless you've played the game once), it makes me feel like I'm being talked down to, and I wish there was an option to turn those off if you didn't need them.
