Al had a lot of food-related parodies. Besides "Couch Potato" as you mentioned, there was "Fat" ("Bad"), "Eat It!" (Beat It), "I Love Rocky Road" (I Love Rock & Roll), and more that are so fun!

Weird Al is one of the most respected parody artists out there because he does get permission to do the parody, even though he might not be legally required to do so. When an artist said no, either to a particular song or in general, he has respected that. He also had opportunities to produce a parody, but he chose not to because he didn't want to have the artist feel like he was constantly mocking/copying/cloning their songs. By being selective in his songs, he has maintained a high degree of respect from other artists. It's been reported that some have even said the first time they felt they "made it" was when Weird Al requested to do a parody of their song.

Hey NUMBNUTZ...you missed on the funniest part of Weird Al's "Like a Surgeon"...Madonna APPEARED in it! Well, briefly, although she's wearing surgeon togs and SHADES, and FILING HER NAILS. Later, when he did "Beverly Hillbillies" for his 1989 movie, "UHF", lampooning Dire Straits' (I want) "My MTV", he got permission from Mark Knopfler to do it, but on the condition that Mark actually play the lead guitar!

I like Weird Al because he parodies one of the worst music genres, pop music. He helps to make it palatable some of the time.

Queens 'Another one bites the dust' is a great memory trigger. The song was playing in the Junior high (Middle school for the younger generations) lunchroom when a massive food fight erupted. Perfect song for this.

"Party in the CIA" is SO much better, and so funny, and has five times as many lyrics . . . nobody respects lyrics, damn it . . . so if someone's going to judge that one for the original clearly our tastes are too far apart to make it worth my while to watch.

I think I would rather go under the knife of the surgeon who graduated last in the class. That person did graduate. The advtage is that the last surgeon isn't going to get complacent. All of surgeons who graduated in the top half are likely to eventually pat less attention, start cutting corners, and maybe just try less.

John Deacon wrote Another One Bites The Dust and the band planned to put it on the album. Michael Jackson heard it an convinced them to release it as a single. He thought it would be a hit, although Queen didn’t think it would. Jackson prevailed and it quite obviously became one of their greatest hits.

You guys do know that parodying a song doesn't require you to musically match the song. You can parody a style, audibly or visually. Al does both with his works.

"Another one Rides the Bus" was one of Al's first songs he wrote. It's the VERY first song he ever performed on TV, which is why it's "trashy" since Al wasn't a success just yet, and didn't have a proper recording studio like he has now. The original recording of it was done in a bathroom.
