I doubt it. I think reverting to the old layout from the 60s for the long run from tabac to the hairpin and then back down the start finish straight would - especially if widened it all.

In order to have to pass in places other than the straight, you have to have wide medium braking corners.

The problem is not the track, it's the current f1 car that's too big. Try watch the feeder series or Formula E, monaco is still an awesome track that capable to produce many overtakes.

sorry but Monaco has had its time and its time to replace it with something new, they replace dull races all the time.

get rid of monaco and get one of the german tracks back.

Fun idea to extend the track, but the only thing to bring back passing will be smaller cars (length and width). Maybe make a circuit specific car for the race.

I was thinking that even just the addition of turning left before Portier and then right, going around the round about the wrong way would help - gives an extra 65m straight before the tunnel entrance ... and smooth out the Nouvelle Chicane

All that needs to be done is move the chicane to the end of the straight it breaks up. Job done.

IMHO 3 changes would help:
The simpler one: left at Portier, then right into the roundabout returning. That would create a longer "straight", that theoretically could improve overtakes.
It should then be coupled with a change on the Nouvelle Chicane, making it wider to allow for full send overtakes.
The third change is way more controversial: remove the second swimming pool chicane, going straight to Rascasse. That would be a homage to the old circuit, where the braking into the Rascasse was a much better overtaking point than at St. Devote. This could allow for a high speed approach area, large enough for 2 cars to enter the Rascasse, blending into the small stretch before the last corner.

The problem that still remains is there's just not a spot wide enough for overtaking. I'm not sure how they fix that. Some sort of floating device in the harbor to make Nouvelle wider coming out of the tunnel?

The best idea would be to remove Monaco from the list altogether. Failing that, for God's sake reduce the size of the cars! They are like supertankers these days.

Just use that first roundabout before the tunnel, and the tunnel straight would be long enough for overtake because slipstream is actually very strong in Monaco due to the high downforce setup.

I think the straights between Mirabeau Bas and Portier could be a safety concern.
