WOW what a fantastic video. It makes sense for one person like you to do the research so that the rest of us don't have to. MY SITUATION: I do NOT want fast charging because I NEVER need a phone charged quickly, and I'm the kinda guy who holds onto a phone for 8 years. The mainstream chargers out there are all now 20W and up. A 5W charger is fine with me but I can't find any, so I need my phone to throttle the charging. I have a Samsung A54, which has a battery option called "Fast Charging" that can be turned off. QUESTION: What happens when I turn this "Fast Charging" option off? Does the phone itself limit the incoming current from a charger that can supply lots of current? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ANSWER.
ОтветитьMy question is now. On iPhones once battery health has reached 80% is that the appropriate time to replace it?
ОтветитьOne plus charging and battery tech is the only reason I stick with them. It's one of the biggest factors for me when choosing a phone. 😭 All I want is a rog phone or a galaxy with 100w+ charging
ОтветитьThis is what I've been saying. When morons berate me about fast-charging COMPLETELY ruining my battery, I cringe. Besides, I updrage my phone every year.
ОтветитьI love that your videos dont have background music ... & you speak to the audience at a natural pace. Also appreciate your effort to learn the stuff before conveying it to us, thanks bro! :D P.S. Love the humility in your speech, never change!
ОтветитьThank you 💓 I was already scared that my 67W is going to damage my phone
ОтветитьThank youuu
Ответитьthis is why we need solid state batteries
ОтветитьI charge my phone, Ipad, and macbook pro with the 120w charging block for my Macbook Pro 16". Haven't really noticed any issues. Ill run a batter test to see what my batter % life is.
ОтветитьIn a few years most phones have to have easily replaceable batteries. It doesn't have to be an easy open back, but you can't need to heat the adhesive. It will be screws.
ОтветитьYes it does damage the battery. Anytging over 15w is bad for a smartphone. They are in a double glass sided pacakge. So heat is well insulated which is bad for battery.
Smartphone makers profit more when your battery lifr span is reduced they are not your friends... they are manufacturers thats all.
30w and beyond charging in my experience on new devices, battery discharge was faster. So not using your phone at all locked in your pocket a slow charged phone would drop from 100 to 99 in 1 to 2 hours while fast charged would be at 95 already.
That alone tells a lot about what happens in those cells in your battery. You are over volting them.
Whwn we do that on chips to overclock they degrade faster. And even die if you push it hard. But those chips cpus gpus socs are having an active cooling solution whereas yoru battery dont and cant
Fast charged battery can easily see 45C during idle charging cycle
Why am i watching this like I understand any of it 😅
ОтветитьVery well documented, the depth of knowledge in 12mins. Hats off
ОтветитьI fast charge when the phone is lying flat on a floor tile. The battery doesn't heat up. That's between 30% to 85%
ОтветитьJust hit the Sub. button great job buddy.....Thanks'
ОтветитьWith my iPhone 12 Pro Max I had the usual 5w changer. My battery health stayed on 100% for ages. I upgraded to the 13 Pro Max and I bought a fast charger 15w and the battery health was on 96% within a few months.
ОтветитьI hear you, but over a period of 5 years and thousands of charging cycles it will make a difference.
I don't believe manufacturers care about that kind of longevity.
Anyone else hear the dark souls sound?
ОтветитьShort answer...Yes
ОтветитьOn iPhone They scammed me on my replaced battery the original lasted 4 years to 80% and the replaced one its only been 1 year and its already down to 85% so 3 times the speed of depletion seems way off to me on iPad it doesn’t even show maximum capacity
Ответитьwell my almost 5 year old OnePlus 6T really doesnt show much battery degradation. but i also only charge it in the morning when i get ready, usually fastcharge from ~20%ish up to 85%ish. takes like 20minutes. i dont charge overnight.
ОтветитьI would love to see a video on car batteries with this same subject.
ОтветитьMe who uses my none gaming phone to game and charge: 😳
ОтветитьOnePlus nowadays is terrible in battery health and longevity. Fast charging also ruin its battery life.
ОтветитьNow a day phone life won’t last long even though we pay huge amount. I guess they don’t really care.
ОтветитьGreat vid!
Ответитьcharge phones in ur freezers ok
ОтветитьWould you say it is better to charge your battery to 100% every other day or charge it to 80% every day? In other words, fewer full charges or partial charges more often?
ОтветитьI had a one plus 8t with a 30w charger and yes it charger super fast but over time it messed up the phone. It would get abnormally hot and i know it was due to the fast charging. So maybe the technology was too early but i definitely didnt like it.
ОтветитьYou are wondering :o) This coming from the owner of a Tesla ;o) Strange Thank you great video
ОтветитьI feel like the people who complain about fast charging either have old world thinking or are salty iPhone people
ОтветитьGaming over 5G = heat
ОтветитьI think there’s something to faster charging hurts batteries. If I charge my iPhone 11 Pro with the 18w cable charger my battery drains faster. But when I charge it with a 5w qi charger it last much longer. It’s happened to me multiple time so I don’t know.
ОтветитьWho cares about battery health with Apple care
ОтветитьCan we just go back to removable batteries?!? I miss having an extra battery, that is charged and ready to go. Now we can't even open the damn phones anymore.
ОтветитьMAD RESPECT!!! This guy had a really good question, then did the research behind the answer. True hero!
ОтветитьMy 3 year old iPhone pro max was at 91% when I traded it in. I don’t fast charge, I use the very low 5W Original Apple battery charger, and the battery just lasts longer. Since I charge my phone at night, speed of charging is not the issue, but even at such a low charge, the entire process is very quick. I had my previous iPhone, the 7 Plus for 4 years, and the battery was at 98% when I traded that one in.
ОтветитьHey @Marques Can we get a sequel of this video❤❤
ОтветитьCan someone give the tldr? I don't have 12 minutes for a 5 second answer.
ОтветитьAwesome video. I appreciate the research you did for this. Thanks ! 👍
ОтветитьVery good info
ОтветитьNow with iPhone 15 Pro you can set it should only charge to 80% that should expand the time it I'll last drastically.
ОтветитьI believe that some people are lost on the concept of charging. When it says 500 charges for Apple degrades the battery. People aren’t taking into consideration that it’s means complete charges, not every time you plug in the cable. If the battery is at 80% and it’s charged to 100% that’s not a complete charge. You still have to charge another 80% to get one complete charge. This is why people say your phone lines to be topped off, because it reduces battery degradation and lengthens the amount of charges. The more small charges we make splits one charge into multiple charges. Of course, if you let your phone drain, you’re closer to a full charge. If you charge when the battery is at 30% you’ve used 70% of that charge. Another 30% charge will equal a full charge.
ОтветитьMy LG thinq G7 had thermal compound and a heat spreader inside. that phone was released in 2018. My Motorola Edge Plus 2023 charges extremely fast with the 68w charger, but i dont fast charge it all the time. only when i need to.
ОтветитьWhy don't all devices pass through always? Laptops seem to have had the capability from the start. Whether it is utilised or not is a different question, but basically what I am saying is you can run any laptop on it's charger only with the battery removed. It's just up to the software pass through and trickle charge the battery still
Ответить240W we are approaching small industrial motors soon
ОтветитьGreat video 🥳 ! Greetings from Germany ✌🏾
ОтветитьMy Redmi Note 5 pro has 64% capacity left. Bought the device back in 2018 and still runs fine minus battery backup. 😅
