I appreciate your content and the thoughtfulness behind it. Great variety of topic and It’s agreeable for me as it’s grounded, well spoken and relatable. Incredibly charming intelligent charismatic and attractive guy. Me too! I’m just 20 years older, short, little foolish and can you life coach us to be half that suave and how to use it for lucrative yet benevolent and altruistic side hustles? Lol thanks again, loving it on my feed.

Yes!! Amazon IS bad! 15 yrs ago we used to have an online book shop on " the river" ( that's what we book sellers used to call them).

They treated their online sellers as if we were robots not humans. Horrible support .

We do not order from Amazon nor do we have Amazon Prime. I'm not dissing anyone who does . Just our personal preference. And probably the biggest reason we think the river is a bad place to work? Jeff Bezos.

As one person put it on Reddit commented " he won at business but lost at humanity." Meaning, his company treats his employees like dirt.

We remember when crapazon bought Whole Foods. Wow! talk about bad changes in that once awesome grocery store.

In our town people saw happy employees there become unhappy very quickly. We won't shop there anymore..

I agree that when an employee treats you badly sometimes it's best to just walk away. Notice I said walk. Please leave the truck there. Just sayin'.

I lost my job during the end of covid right after thanksgiving and worked at Amazon for 6ish months. If you enter knowing you're going to be treated like a number it's really not all that bad. I used to work for call centers and they treated us better at Amazon than there. My boss didn't know my name and didn't care to. Just so long as I hit metrics. I quit and went to something else only because overtime dried up, until then I was in pack and usually did water spider for stations and totes.

It's not for everybody. But there are much worse, much more toxic places to work. Just keep your stay there as a means to an ends and don't make a career out of working the warehouse.

!!! TRIGGER WARNING !!! GETS VERY DARK !!!

I too have never worked at amazon, but I have heard 100 horrifying stories cos I did business degree research projects on it. My projects were shit and I can't say I'm an expert or my research here was academic but I did alright so here we go, from memory:

- completely inhumane treatment of staff.

- you are a robot, they do not care about you and certainly not your "needs" or your "wants" lol dream on

- accidental firings

- they have been known to randomly stop disability payments, and it turns out they were shortchanging* staff that were vulnerable (e.g. poverty stricken workers, or migrant workers with little English and little understanding of the system), as well as the sick, disabled, new parents, or anyone else on leave.

- no time for lunch or toilet breaks with the pace of work. Hold it in or piss yourself. If you take a lunch or toilet break anyway you'll likely get punished/docked pay, and yes they will instill that fear into you.

- probably no time off even if you're pregnant cos you'll get fired. A baby was delivered in a toilet and the mother dumped it in a trash can.

Although, if I had to choose between working at an amazon warehouse and a sports direct warehouse, I'd choose amazon. You can say all of these things and much more about Sports Direct, but obviously less people know about it all. Much like Amazon, a worker has given birth in their toilets because they were afraid of what would happen if they missed their shift. She then told witnesses she had to get back to work, and they fought to keep the baby alive... so yep she was a monster too apparently. Coincidence? Not to me.

Although these are often isolated instances and the worst cases covered by the media, I can promise you that these things are universal across all warehouses: the level of treatment, how little they care about you and your needs, and the fact that you'll need to starve and hold in your piss. If you have any self respect, stay the fuck away.

*shortchanging: withholding money or giving them less than what was actually owed

I worked at an Amazon warehouse in Houston, and quit after we reset the record for distribution ever for that warehouse. This was in 2017, and I started the day before Hurricane Harvey hit. The same warehouse would give you an automated pink slip for three strikes that signaled when productivity was down, because of something as uncontrollable as a truck being late. How does something like that give me a strike, if it’s something I can’t control? However, I did get two free weekends of pay, because the warehouse was surrounded by water from the storm, so I didn’t complain that much.

I’ve been at Amazon for 4 years now..if you need to use the bathroom, tell manager so they can take over for you and keep your rates up, expect to lose weight-walking/standing all day and drinking water and building muscles too, most people complaints are: can’t be on my phone all day, can’t go to the other side of the building and hang out at my friend’s station, I have to work 10 hours, I can’t go out for a smoke til my break, every muscle hurts (it will but it’ll get better), have to get up early, can’t wear my earphones, it’s boring, we can’t smoke pot in the parking lot..during Peak/Prime, you do have to come in an hour early on those days but there’s sooo many benefits..you get automatic health insurance and time off on your first day, if things are really slow and not going to get better, they’ll ask you if you want vto ( volunteer time off) and you can leave, 95% payment to whatever college courses you want, only working 4 days a week and good money!! The younger people who haven’t worked before or just used to fast food are the chief complainers!! They still live at home and rather stay there all day in bed or hanging out with friends and don’t know how to work!! But, yes, you can go to the bathroom anytime you want but when it’s many times or long trips, they know you’re screwing around..seen it many, many, many times!! Don’t be discouraged to work there..when all you hear is complaints, that’s all you’ll believe!! How many times have we heard people say crappy things about someone just to find they’re a great person and friend after you meet them? Until you win the billion dollar lottery, suck it up, Buttercup!
